Pet care experience
I have owned 3 personal dogs, a total of 5 if you count the two my husband brought to the marriage, but there's always room for more dogs in my life. Since owning more dogs is too expensive, to-date I have fostered 30 dogs to their forever home and been an active volunteer with a local rescue. I love a challenge so I typically foster the big, bursting with energy type so I'm not intimidated by the large and in charge. I have extensive experience with leash reactive dogs and can manage the behavior confidently. My canine education comes from personal and academic backgrounds, I've owned dogs for 12 years and studied the behavior and biology of dogs course at Colorado State University. I have owned three dogs in my life so far and only twice had I ever let one stay with non family. I have a black lab puppy who adores her. Due to some unplanned circumstances I needed some place for her to stay for a while. There wasn’t even a second thought about having her stay with Melissa. My puppy has fondly appointed herself the “annoying little sister” to Melissa’s big dog and it is a huge play fest when the two get together. Melissa is knowledgeable and consistent in her handling and trying. You dog and it’s care and safety are Melissa’s priority. You will be so happy with her services.

Melissa is absolutely the best! She is incredibly knowledgeable about breeds, training, and caring for all types of dogs! She has dog sat for my crazy pack of dogs for years, and my kiddos absolutely LOVE her! Zizi squeals with excitement every time she sees her. I constantly seek her advice for training tips and new ideas to wear out my high energy pit mix. I highly recommend her as a dog sitter, walker, and all round good friend to call when you need some dog advice.
Melissa has watched my two dogs numerous times (they never want to leave!), and she remains the only person who has ever gotten my dog to run beside her! She is so great with animals, and I trust her completely with my babies. My dogs tend to “pack” when walking and get leash aggressive and she handles it with grace and patience. Would absolutely recommend!
