I'm a lifelong animal lover who is unfortunately dogless in Philadelphia, but I grew up with a Jack Russell Terrier that was truly part of our family. I now have a cat and a bearded dragon of my own who I love dearly and spoil too much. During my childhood I also raised many birds, a rabbit and fish. I gravitate toward animals as they do me; I have yet to meet a dog that didn't feel comfortable around me. I'm also adventurous and active, so I would love to spend my free time taking your dog for a short hike, playing fetch with your cat indoors, or snuggling with your reptile on the couch. I'm a full-time journalist who works from home. I can't do overnight stays since I have animals of my own, but I'm available for drop-in visits. I'm easygoing and respond as quickly as I can when I'm not working. I hope to meet you and your animals soon!

Melissa has been wonderful with our new puppy. She is very detail oriented and thorough — her rover cards are great and if she notices anything different or off, she always follows up with me to check in about my preferences in taking care of my dog. She is very responsive when I need to tweak the schedule. Most importantly, our dog is so happy and loves her visits!

Melissa goes above and beyond every time with my cats to play with them, give updates, and ensure they have what they need while I'm away. She also kept me updated about a package being delivered and made sure it got safely into my house. She is a great sitter and very reliable and responsible. So grateful to have found her!

I don't have any breed preferences, but I'd like to know if the dog has any special needs and what it's favorite activities are. Are the dog's shots up to date, and are they on flea and tick medication?
A typical day
Playing ball and frisbee, tug-of-war (we can play with whatever toys you have available.) I'm also an avid hiker, so I'd love to go on a hike with your dog, or to play with your cat.

Availability
Since I work from home, I can walk your dog during the day if you live nearby, or I can do a couple of drop-in visits throughout the day. I don’t work my full-time job during the weekends and I’m available for more regular check-ins then.
