The most stressful part of planning a vacation or trip away from home is figuring out what to do with my pets. Luckily, I have wonderful in laws who have been so extremely helpful, but I know this area is limited with resources. Hopefully this will help some others in this area. I have been a dog owner the past 11 years, beginning with a mini poodle. Now my husband and I have a Lab mix and a Boxer, who are both around 5 years old. We like to take them on walks and socialize with other pets and people. It is important for our dogs to have manners and obedience, as well as keeping up their health. Our lab is notorious for being very well mannered and a "good boy," and he plays really well with most dogs. Our boxer is the type that wants to be good mannered so bad but just can hardly contain the excitement within himself. He's very passive towards other animals. I work a full time job indoors- which means I am ready to move when I get off work. I live about a 2 minute walk from work, so I walk home on my breaks and spend my lunch at home to care for the doggos. The dogs have been known to walk with me and my husband to parades, to be in a parades, to attend Halloween parties, go swimming at the creek, hike, go on Jeep rides, travel to Ft Worth, Edmond, or OKC. Basically- we include our dogs in whatever we do. Our cats? They are very self sufficient. One loves to cuddle with the boxer, and the other would prefer to just be left alone.
