Pros: Melissa was a very communicative sitter, and took care to send pictures, and keep us up to date on our dog's stay and care. This was our dog's first time ever away from us, and she was very nervous, and not friendly to Melissa. Melissa was good about being patient and allowing her time to acclimate. She was also flexible regarding the drop-off and pickup times. The dog was fed and watered and given ...

Awful. Daisy ran out the house crying. Worst part- the sitter did not tell me she was going to be away for over six hours on both days. Melissa's house is extremely cluttered. If your dog is used to a clean and orderly household, she will probably not like it here. Melissa apparently (read in reviews below) bathes the dog before you pick her up, but Daisy smells like she got sprayed by a vanilla ...

Melissa has been an amazing sitter. I have leafy used her 3 times. The last time, the original sitter for my dog didn't show up and I called Melissa in hopes that she would have availability. She wasn't even home and dropped whatever she was doing so she could meet with me in order for me to make my flight.

Melissa has a spacious backyard, a couple of dogs of her own so Rin has ...

Our K-9s are family, yours too!

We are a couple in our early 40s and have been married for 17 years. Our son is eleven and loves animals. Your dog(s) would join our two Mini Aussies for a snuggle in the house and a frolic in our good sized back yard. I am a stay-at-home mom for my son, our dogs ,and thirty-five plus rabbits. My husband delivers finished milk products for Alpenrose Dairy and enjoys working on old cars ...

When Melissa watches your pet

Here's where we'll take our walks
I probably will not take your dog for a walk as we live on a very busy street but to compensate our backyard is a good portion of our .25 acres and is fully fenced. Our backyard is big enough to throw a Frisbee from my deck to the fence without it going over the fence. I also have a titanium rod and three pins in my right leg so walking on cement hurts.

Your dog's sleeping arrangement
That will be up to you for the most part. My dogs usually sleep in our master bedroom or my son's room. Sometimes they sleep on the couch or dog bed on the floor. I would probably recommend a crate the first night in the house until I know how your dog will behave with my household.

Time I'll spend with your dog
I am home much of the day and night. If I am gone it is usually for less than three hours per day.

“A Typical Day for a Dog with the Becker Family”
During a typical weekday, we get up around 8 am and feed dogs by 9 am (if any medicine needs to be given then they get them during this time too). From 9 am to noon my son and I do online school. We take breaks to have a chance to play/or pet the dogs and let them out and back in. During school the dogs have run of the house (at least the dining room, family room, kitchen, and bathroom (fresh supply of water in a dog bowl is available). Usually we eat lunch around noon and have some time for frolic and play. If we don’t have anywhere to go then we do chores around the house and free time with dogs. If we do we are usually not gone anymore than 3 hours at one time (may leave around 1 pm and return by 3 pm or 4 pm). Then we are generally home for dinner and playtime with dogs. Dogs that have evening dinner or meds get them here too. From 6 to 8 pm we may have a 4-H Rabbit meeting, or Cub Scout Meeting, or a sports practice (most of these are once or twice a month or sports are seasonal). If we do not have any evening activities then we are home watching tv or movies and having cuddle/playtime with dogs. My husband usually heads of for bed around 9 pm and I stay up until about 11:30 pm.
When a dog comes to stay with us I ask their owner where there dog usually sleeps at home and try to accommodate them accordingly. As with sleeping arrangements I also find out what they do with their dog when they are absent from their home. If a dog uses a crate I have the owner bring it and keep the crate in my dining room or family room. I believe dogs should be around the action of the house thus in the main rooms. I do have a removable doggy door in my back sliding door that I use when I am home and the day is nice. When I leave guest dogs will be staying in the house with our two dogs.
When the dogs go outside the yard is fully fenced. We had a spot near the house that a dog got over so that is boarded up and is as high as the gutters of the house. We check our fence weekly for any weaknesses that could lead to a dog escaping. We are very serious about the safety and happiness of the dogs in our care.
