Compassionate, gentle animal-lover

Pet care experience

I’m an animal lover that has offered pet care services since 1996, ranging from drop in-betta fish feeding to long-term sitting for a veritable herd of baby bull mastiffs that *weren’t quite yet* potty trained. I’m gentle and patient and am calm in emergency situations. In fact, I’m well-aquatinted with several vets and vet techs in town through volunteer organizations and my own pet care. I’ve even done volunteer wildlife rehabilitation in the past, mainly for frogs, birds, and rodents such as raccoons and chipmunks, so I’m comfortable administering medication. I’m tidy myself, but don’t mind cleaning up after a messy pet! I have multiple dogs, cats, birds, fish, and ferrets, all up-to-date on their vaccines, and they’re accustomed to accepting new friends into our home. I will take care for your animals very seriously, as if they were my own. I’m trustworthy and honest. If there’s an incident, I’ll be forthright. And, I’m not the type to go browsing through your medicine cabinet and lingerie drawer while you’re away. If your pets come to my home, they’ll be in a toxin-free environment. I use no harsh cleaners in the home and no pesticides or herbicides in or out. I do not smoke, do not use artificially scented product, and do not utilize aerosols or non-stick pans.

Melissa did a wonderful job at taking care of pug! She communicated well with me and showed a lot of love to give to my girl while I was away at work. I would recommend her pet services to anybody, and I know I plan to use her again in the future.

Information Melissa B. would like to know about your pet

While I won’t turn away a pet with some character flaws or funky habits, I would rather know straight away if the animal is a chewer, an aggressor, or a marker! (I have a healthy supply of dog underwear on hand!)

A typical day

I love to walk in local parks and especially on the river. I’m also a lover of hiking and will take your pet, with permission, to nearby county and state parks for more strenuous exercise. My experience treating wild animals makes me very aware of the need for hydration and caution for overheating in summer months.

I am away for teaching three to five hours each afternoon, but am home most mornings, evenings, and weekends, assigned from the odd chore or errand. I’ll let you know, upon booking, if I’ve got an obligation during your pet’s stay that would take me out of the house for more than an hour or two. If I leave your pet while I’m away, they’ll be warm and secure in a clean, quality crate.
