Melissa provided pet and house sitting for us for two weeks. It was a very bad experience. Melissa had pet sat for us once before with no issue. However, after booking the two-week job Melissa told me should would need to raise the price for the second week by $70. This was not mentioned at all prior. I agreed to pay because the average cost per day was $55, which I felt was within an appropriate range, but changing the price without discussion was unprofessional. During the 2 weeks, Melissa did send periodic photos and updates and all seemed well. The real problem was when we returned home. We came back to a filthy washcloth on our coffee table, random trash in the house, and one of the lids for our dog's food storage bowls was in the bathtub. We found poop bags and feces in our yard. Our dog should have pooped on her walks, not in the yard. What was more concerning is that our house smelt like cat urine, which it never does. I later discovered that one of our cats had urinated in the dog bed. This is not something that they do. Even more disturbing is that our house cleaner, who had come the day before, was so upset by the condition of our home that he sent pictures the day we returned. Our house was a complete mess. There was a sink full of dirty dishes, a pile of dirty laundry on our bedroom floor, which included my bath towel (we provided Melissa her own set). There was dirty clothing in our dog's bed. I saw a picture of a large amount of cat litter on the floor in front of one of the boxes that had not been swept up and our senior dog lying next to it. I was extremely upset that we paid Melissa over $750 and she treated our house like a trash can. I contacted Melissa immediately about the house and photos. She apologized and offered to refund some of our money, which she never did. Melissa assured me that our pets were well taken care of. I have a very hard time believing her, given the state of our home and the conditions our animals were living in over those 2 weeks. Needless to say, we won't be using Melissa again, and I would warn others against using Melissa's services as well based on our very negative experience.
