Love your dog already!

Pet care experience

I've been doing pet care for the last 10 years while I was in New York City and since, and even had my own older dog Dante there. I unfortunately lost Dante in June 2016 (the big guy in the photos), and have moved back to the Southern California area in the beginning of 2017. I now have Lola, a sweet bichon frisée who loves all dogs. My roommate also has a dog but he’s not happy with newcomers, so I’m no longer able to host in my own home. I do primarily overnight care out of the owner’s home, generally sleeping on the ouch or guest bedroom if there is one. This ensures your pup(s) are comfortable in their own home with their own toys while Lola and I join in on the fun. We love going on adventures, so I'd love to take your pup there for some fun in the sun, sand & surf! I make sure that your dog sticks to their routine, gets plenty of exercise & socialization, and I adapt myself around their needs and schedule. As I was quite obsessive over how Dante was doing while I was gone (and Lola too), I make sure to keep parents up to date on how their pup is via photos/videos/emails. Don't worry about your dog's size or age - Dante was a giant and lived to 13 years old! I've looked after diabetic, blind and/or deaf, obsessive compulsive, aggressive, shy, and all other personality or physical types. There is no situation that I would hesitate to work with. And best of all: I love to snuggle with any dog.

Melisa is the BEST and I am so grateful for her - she’s a true dog lover and a very mature, respectful and kind person. I have 3 very big intimidating dogs that can be a handful, and are usually wary of strangers so they require slow introductions. I also usually feel nervous about strangers in my house and with my dogs. However, Melisa did amazing with the dogs - they instantly loved her and she’s been a life saver- super flexible and able to help with the dogs on short notice.

Melisa was a great dog sitter. She sent me pictures of my pup several times during my weekend away and was attentive to his needs. She took him out and gave him plenty of exercise, and was reliable in terms of pick-up and drop-off. She even spent some time training my dog and teaching him new tricks. I would absolutely recommend Melisa to anyone looking for a sitter.

Melissa was a great host for Bucky - she a a true dog lover and took great care of him. They went on some good walks and she made sure he was happy during his stay. She was accommodating to our schedule and was good in providing updates and pictures.

Information Melisa D. would like to know about your pet

I have zero size or breed preferences, issues, hang ups, or anything. There is NO dog I can't or haven't handled. Dante was 95 pounds and "dog aggressive" (for all of 5 minutes, then he forgot he hated other dogs). I've watched puppies, diabetic dogs, dogs that were blind AND deaf, obsessive compulsive, and my favorite - snuggle monsters. If your dog has an "issue" - that's okay, because I don't.

A typical day

Depends on what your dog needs! I've watched dogs who needed hours of play, while others had to be dragged to go to the corner and back. And I'm a person who loves to cuddle with animals, fur is no deterrent for me!
