Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs and absolutely love animals. I had a Scottish Terrier growing up who wasn't great with other dogs so I am practiced at keeping calm in doggy conflict. He was trained not to go on the carpet and we kept very strict with him, so if you have any special rules for your dog you can count on me to keep consistent with them. I also have several years under my belt with two Australian Shepherds, one of them having a vision impairment. Additionally, I am certified to perform CPR and first aid on dogs and cats, so know your pet will be safe in my hands. Furthermore, I have a year of training experience and will be applying to get my CPDT certification within the next year. If you need any advice regarding behavioral issues, I am happy to work that in pro bono since I need the practice. I am patient and affectionate and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. I'm an avid walker and am unlikely to poop out before your pooch. I am a full-time dog care professional, so I am available to work around your schedule however necessary!
Reviews
Babe is a rescue Pittie with a lot of anxiety and dog related fear after being attacked earlier this year. Melinda’s experience and dedication have been a great addition for Babe as she continues to settle into her furever home and city life. Melinda has been able to incorporate the training techniques that Babe is working on into their walks as well. So lucky and grateful to have found a perfect match here in Brewerytown!
Melinda communicates well, is reliable, and even goes above and beyond! She has knowledge of dogs and how to manage their behavior. She has been walking my dog weekly for almost 2 months - no complaints!
Melinda was super responsive and responsible. Highly recommend! Great with the pup! Will use again!
Melinda is absolutely wonderful with dogs, actually with any animals! She is a certified animal trainer and an animal behavioral consultant as well. Melinda is a very responsible individual who takes her work with animals seriously, and at the same time pours her heart into it. Anyone that has been around Melinda for even the briefest amount of time can tell you just how compassionate she is about animals. I would recommend Melinda to anyone who is in need for someone to look after their pets; I have done so myself countless amount of times and will be doing so countless more!

I love all breeds of dog and don't have any restrictions in that regard! However, so you know what to expect, here is an abridged list of questions I like to go through once a client and I begin doing intake! They are not service specific, rather focus more on your dog's personality and quirks: -What time does your dog usually go to bed and wake up? -Where do they usually sleep? -What’s your dog’s meal schedule? -What kind of treats do you give your dog, and how much? -What is your dog’s usual bathroom routine? And how do they let you know when they need to go? -Is your dog used to being left alone? For how long and at what times? -What is your dog’s usual routine for walks, exercise, and outings? -Does your dog have any favorite toys or games? -Does your dog have any food aggression or instincts to protect particular toys? -Does your dog have any potentially risky behaviors, like getting into the trash, chewing on shoes or other items, etc.? -When your dog is anxious or experiencing separation anxiety, what helps soothe him? -Is there anything specifically that causes anxiety for your dog?
