I love dogs, and dogs love me! If it were possible, my husband and I would adopt every dog in need, or run a shelter. Unfortunately, our finances and our travel won't allow us such things, so pet sitting is the closest thing we can come to caring for multiple dogs at one time. We have a little white furball of a dog named Tina, a cute black kitty, and a wise old turtle I’ve looked after for 30 years. I take care of all their grooming myself, and I cook for my Tina due to her food sensitivity. My husband and I regularly board several of our friends’ dogs who absolutely love their vacation with Uncle Steve and Aunt Melinda. It’s very important for me to meet with you first to gauge how your dog and I get along. I always approach new pets in a loving but careful manner. To date, I haven't had any problems gaining the trust and affection of a new doggie within a few minutes. However, if a dog were to have an especially aggressive personality and I couldn’t gain his trust within a reasonable time, I wouldn’t take on that assignment—it wouldn’t be fair to any parties involved. Your dog would need to get on well with other dogs and cats since they’ll be around our own. I prefer smaller or medium size pets, but larger, friendly breeds are okay, too. Owing to a traumatic childhood experience, I avoid Dobermans and other guard dog breeds. When you’re on vacation, we want to give your dog a vacation, too! For the length of their stay, they would be a part of our family and enjoy lots of cuddles and playtime. Our neighborhood is like a giant park, with lots of grass and plenty of spaces for walking. And if we’re house-sitting for you as well, I’ll ask where your dog enjoys walking most so we’ll be sure to head there.
