I have been around dogs since I was born (not to give my age, but over 45 years!) I grew up with a Collie and a Miniature Schnauzer. During my marriage, I have had 5 Labradors. grew up in Virginia, lived all over the world (thanks to my USMC Ret. husband), moved with dogs-in-tow, and now reside permanently in D.C. I have a passion for all dogs, regardless of shape, age or size! My Dog: Kalliope, a 12 year-old Great Dane who I rescued while living in California, recently passed during COVID-19, after a long battle with cancer. She was with me since she was a 1 year-old! I have a real soft spot for "gentle giants”! I went to the rescue, saw a herd of Great Danes, my eyes met her blue ones through the crowd, and the fix was in! Six months later, I rescued another Dane, Tiberius, who lived to be 13, and crossed the Rainbow Bridge in November 2017, after a battle with cancer. Both dogs passed at passed at home. The hardest decision I ever had to make, but in their best interests. Availability: I am available most every day for walks or drop-in visits. I can do long walks or just spend time with your pup in the quiet atmosphere of your home. My only other job is a volunteer position at the Library of Congress which leaves me quite flexible with scheduling. Location: I live on the Hill and love to walk the local areas! I'm near 8th and I, Lincoln Park and the Navy Yard and am familiar with all areas in between. Special Areas: Tiberius was deaf and both he and Kalliope had terminal cancer, so I am proficient in administering medication and dealing with deaf dogs.
