I started out as a little kid saving animals, from birds and gerbils to cats and dogs. As I grew older, many animals have showed up at my house and continue to do so. I continually foster them while searching for their human families or make sure they are safe and socialized in order to find a loving home for them. This sometimes ends up being short lived or furever. I've had puppies, dogs, kittens, cats, Red Eared Slider turtles, Cockatiel birds, and a beautiful Muscovy duck flew onto my upstairs deck and became our family. My neighbors' cats and dogs all find their way to my house, so I always have extra animals around to care for while they hang out. I earned my nick name "Snow White" after years of animals showing up outside my door. I've cared for my own and others' senior dogs and cats, and all ages including kittens and puppies, animals with major health conditions such as grand mal seizures, urinary/bladder infections, broken bones, abscesses, upper respiratory infections, tetanus, enlarged heart, cancer, blindness, hard of hearing, Parvo in a puppy, newborn kittens abandoned from moms/bottle feeding, special diets, and oral medicines. I have watched dogs in my home when their families go away on vacation, making sure they are part of my own pack. I am very detailed and observant with changes to behavior and health and good at documentation and communication about anything going on. I had extra training in this through NOAA Fisheries and Hawaii Marine Animal Response in the past 16 years as a volunteer with non-profits who partner with NOAA Fisheries. The last one with Hawaii Marine Animal Response for 6 years. I do outreach/education on beaches with the public regarding the Hawaiian monk seals. I have done 1,000's of shifts with monk seals and the public, and 100's of searches for seals of concern and rescue documentation, observations and reports. I have many years experience in proper ways to report concerns and behavior that I observe with marine life and furry/feathered/flippered animals. Most importantly, I love caring for animals of all kinds, no matter who they belong to and of course the lost and abandoned ones. It is always my mission to make sure they feel all the love, are safe and cared for. Play time is so much fun, knowing it stimulates their brains and keeps them active and joyful, especially when an animal has their favorite toys and they grab it to share with me. I love talking with animals and am a firm believer that animal communication is important. I believe it's also important to give them the space they want (even when I really want to cuddle and hug them all day). I am the person who will sit there forever to make sure animals get their cozy naps in, even if that means my legs or arms fall asleep while waiting. I love taking photos of animals and am great at keeping human families in the loop of how their animals are doing while they are away (if the family wants updates like that). I can't wait to meet more animals and share my love with them and their families.
