Dogs Are A Girl's Best Friend.

Pet care experience

I've cared for pets virtually my entire life. Growing up I had cats, dogs, horses, and rabbits. There aren't many animals that are outside of my comfort zone. In my mind, its a pet's world and we just live in it. I'm comfortable with providing medication, cleaning up messes, playing, and providing potty breaks as needed. All my friends and family look to me to care for their pets while they are out of town because they know they will be spoiled rotten and loved on the entire time they're in my care.

Melanie and her family took great care of my pup Bodhi! She sent me cute pictures and updates to give me peace of mind about how he was doing, and I could tell he enjoyed playing with their pups and hanging out with the family! He was happy and healthy when I picked him up ? I would definitely love Bodhi to stay with them again in the future!

Melanie rocks! Glad she was able to watch my boys for the day while we were packing the house.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced in backyard with 6 ft. vinyl coated chainlink and two gates, pets are always supervised when they are outside and won't be left out in the cold or heat for any prolonged period of time. Medications can be given on a schedule, fresh water is always provided and refilled multiple times a day, and food provided on whatever schedule owner's would like. I live in an extremely safe, quiet neighborhood with my 5 year old Lab/Heeler who loves making and having new pals over and my 4 year old cat who spends most of her days napping in the sunshine or on my bed. Premises are monitored by audio/video recording and I can provide updates to pet parents whenever they would like to check in on their buddy.

Information Melanie N. would like to know about your pet

As always dogs must be dog & cat friendly, they don't have to be best friends but the health and safety of my pets is paramount as this is their full-time home. We always need to know if there are any medications your pet is on including dosage and schedule, how often they typically like to go potty (I work full-time from home so my schedule is adjusted as needed to your pet's needs.), and what kind of toys they like to play with/how they like to play. Do they like car rides? If they do, they can run grocery pick ups and errands with us (they'll never be left in the car alone), and if they don't that's ok! We can run our errands and they can hang out at home with the music box and just relax. We also like to know about the pet parent's preferences and whether they are ok with trips to the dog park, walks, rough housing, new training they would like to be kept up on, etc. Let me know how your dog prefers to sleep; in their crate, on the bed, or off in the living room by themselves. I can accommodate just about anything within reason!

A typical day

We love to have fun in this house, we have overflowing baskets of toys, lots of bones to chew on, a big back yard to run around in and plenty of time during the day to run out some energy. Our neighborhood is very low traffic and great for short or long walks on flat pavement (don't worry! During the summer we will make sure the asphalt isn't too hot before we head out on our walks and will always bring water with wherever we go). A normal routine in this house goes a little something like this: In the mornings we wake up for a potty break while Mel gets our breakfast ready, we eat breakfast and play for a little bit while Mel starts work. If we need a potty break before lunch we just let Mel know and she can take us (she does work from home you know)! Around 12:30 we get an hour lunch break to play outside or inside, maybe get a treat or two, make sure waters are filled and everyone has a toy or enrichment activity to work on while Mel goes back to work for a bit. After work during the nicer months we love hanging out at the dog park (weather permitting) and during softball and football season we like to spend lots of time at the ball fields socializing and watching the kiddos play ball. At night we wind down and lay around on the couch for a bit before having our nightly potty break and bedtime treat. After that it's time for bed and they are welcome to sleep wherever they prefer including the couch or the bed. If you've gotten this far you've probably already figured out that this household kind of revolves around the pets and what they require during the day. Good thing Mel has a flexible schedule and can make sure we get enough love, exercise, and activity during the day!

I work my full time job from home and have pretty extreme flexibility. If we need a break for pets, treats, or just to go potty; I'm able to take whatever time I need. During the warmer months I'm off work early enough to make trips out to the dog park before it gets dark or romp around in the backyard. At night we wind down and spend some time laying around on the couch relaxing. During the cooler months when its too dark/cold to head to the dog park we run around in the back yard for a bit or roughhouse inside. During softball & football season, weather permitting, we like to hang out at the ball park/football field and watch the kids play.
