Stress less leaving your pups (:

Pet care experience

I grew up with a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix from birth until I was 7 years old. When I was 15 we brought home a female cavapoo (opal) and a female shitzu (Hershey) both at 8 weeks old. My brother and I were responsible for their care which included feeding, walking, bathing, yard cleanup etc. They’re both 7 years old now and run our household. June 2022, I moved out into my own place 12 hours from home and by august I was tired of being lonely. I adopted two female puppies - Ella (Belgian Malinois/Great Dane) & Daisy (Rottweiler/Catahoula Leopard Dog). They came home August 23&24 (less than 12 hours apart). They’re my family and I love them more than anything. I live alone and I’m their only person so all their care has been done by me alone and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’ve always grown up a dog person and I try to pet every dog I meet. I know basic care as well as housebreaking tricks, leash training (I’m in an apartment so they had to be leash trained), and teaching basic commands. My two are kennel trained and I can try to help you get yours that way if desired. I love dogs and all aspects of caring for them no matter how unfavorable! I can’t wait to meet your little ones and see them grow up over time (:

Safety, trust & environment

In my home, they can go wherever - even if not housebroken. It’s important to let new puppies explore their surroundings and accidents happen which is fixable with towels and carpet cleaning 🙂My kitchens a decent size & has their kennel and the living room has all their toys which they know they have to share. My two normally sleep with me but can get defensive over a new temporary member of our family. This being said, if your pup(s) sleep in the bed, mine will stay in their kennel to prioritize making your little one feel safe especially since their world doesn’t make sense not being home. Additionally, my best friend is a vet tech of ~4 years and she’s my go to phone call if I have a question or am in a panic. If something happens with your pet, not only will I more than likely ask her questions but I promise to inform you of the situation and rectify any issues ESPECIALLY if I’ve made a mistake!

Information Melanie M. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know any conditions, allergies, important info to know about your pup. Being in a new environment is so stressful on puppies I want to make the transition as seamless as possible and let them know they are safe and loved no matter what! I also request owners to provide an emergency contact and vet info in case of emergency! Luckily, I’ve never needed to use this but I’d rather have it on hand than wish I did.

A typical day

My apartment has a fairly large balcony and I have a magnetic screen up so they can come in and out as they please. We love to go to the dog park and take walks around the complex. My living room is also spacious enough for wrestling and toy playing which keeps my two very occupied.

Availability

I work full time so my two are kenneled during the day. At night they play in the kitchen and living room until they get tired and we go on multiple walks and to the dog park (temperature and weather permitting). When I’m home, I also let them on my balcony where I keep a waterproof dog bed and water. Im not ALWAYS right on the balcony with them but I’m within view so I’ve never had worries about them being “left alone” per say. Pet care I could offer someone else would be overnight boarding mainly on weekends. I live alone & 12 hours away from everyone I know so I know how difficult and stressful it is to have to go out of town and trust someone you don’t know to care for your kiddos. I think it’s important to keep pet owners in the loop so I do my absolute best to send at least one pic/video in the morning and at night.
