Pet care experience
Growing up, I had dogs inside and outside the house. As an adult, I have yet to adopt a dog, but I enjoy going to the Humane Society of Elkhart County to volunteer about once a week. While there, I walk the dogs, clean kennels, and do whatever I can to help! I am currently most available between 5pm and 8pm during on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and could be very flexible during the weekend. I love to get to know new and different dogs; however, I still want to respect their space what they are comfortable with, especially since I would be a new face to them. I want them to feel as comfortable away from home as possible. I can't wait to walk, play with, and spend time with your dog!

I am the volunteer coordinator for the Humane Society of Elkhart County. Melanie is a devoted volunteers that takes great care with our adoption dogs. She will come in and walk them and had extreme patience for the most stubborn or excited dog. She handles all sizes of dogs with ease also. Melanie is very nurturing, responsible and carrying for all animals. I would highly recommend her services to all.
Melanie is a caring person who loves animals. She has lots of experience walking all kinds of pups in her role as a volunteer at the humane society. Large dogs that pull like a train and small dogs with stubby legs. She treats all of them with the same loving care and enthusiasm.
Melanie loves dogs and has watched mine many times. She always takes the time to walk and spend extra time with every dog she watches, very reliable!
Melanie has always been great with my pets. She was especially helpful when I had a litter of puppies and she cared for them and helped potty train them. She is a responsible, trustworthy individual with a good heart and good character. She will treat your pets with respect and love and certainly will enjoy getting their love in return!! I know she has volunteered at shelters and done work with pets for others besides myself. I would trust her with my furry ones lives!!! :)

I would always like to know if a particular dog is okay with being pet by strangers, or if no dogs or small children should come up to it - this is for the safety of your dog, as well as others involved. I would also need to know if they would not be okay with cats, as we have a cat in our home. I do not have any breed preferences - I like to get to know all dogs!
A typical day
I live close to Shanklin Park in Goshen, so I would have great access to walking trails, as well as have a large grassy space to run around and play. With that being in a wooded area, there would be plenty of squirrels and birds for your dog to bark at. I also live close to downtown Goshen, which is a great place for your dog to walk, and people watch!
