Pet care experience
Hello, I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer who has always had a strong passion for animals aside from the law. During my time as an Officer, I was a Canine Officer. I have had the pleasure of training dogs and being around dogs my whole career. I am now looking forward to my second career as an independent business owner in the animal field. I live on a farm with 2 1/2 acres completely fenced in.The animals can enjoy a large area to run around in without worry about traffic or other dangers of the street. I enjoy all types of animals. On the property we have chickens, pigs, birds, rabbits and dogs. I am a hardworking and trust worthy person and I assure you that your pet(s) will be in good hands. I am a pet owner myself so I know and understand that every pet's needs are unique. Like me, you probably have other animals than just dogs, so I am willing to take care of any kind of animal as long as you provide me with proper instructions on how to care for them. Melanie really means it when she says that she loves them like you do. Alfie, my Jack Russell Terrier, never liked being around new people or animals and I would avoid traveling so that I wouldn't have to leave him anywhere. But my job made me go out of town recently and I shopped around looking at options. I could have left him at a kennel for less, but they didn't feel right. Melanie keeps the dogs at her home with her family, and you could really feel the warmth there. When I came back a few days later, Alfie was playing with the other dogs as if they were old buds and his shyness seemed to be history. I would definitely use 4 Paws again. Knowing that my dog is happy and well taken care of makes me good about traveling again. Thank you Melanie!

Large spacious and secured property for your animals to roam free without being confined for several days and alotted 1 hour for play time. Melanie is very knowledgable about all types of animals and a very trust worthy sitter. She owns several animals from dogs, to birds, to pigs. Melanie takes enormous pride in caring for her very own pets and graciously accepts yours as one of her own. We have utilized her services on 3 separate occasions and would not turn to anyone else to care for our most precious pets. We could not thank her enough for her compassion after the untimely passing of our pitbull Maximus. It's obvious Melanie is a genuine whole hearted individual that truly cares about what's most precious and important to your family.

A typical day
I have 2 1/2 acre property that they will enjoy while staying with me. If your dog likes to swim, I have a pool they can enjoy as well. If I am house sitting, I will find a place close by or around the neighborhood to take your pet for a walk.
