Pet care experience

Hi, my name is Melanie! I am currently accepting repeat clients and new cat (or other small animal) clients only. I have officially been working with animals for 25 years. In addition to having my own dogs and cats, I've worked for a dog groomer/breeder/boarding kennel owner (I was the sole caretaker for her kennel while she was away at shows and on vacations). I managed and lived onsite at a large (100+) alpaca farm. I am a college graduate with a degree in recreation and wildlife and backcountry horsemanship. I have held various jobs working with horses, cows and goats. I have also worked for the National Park Service with sea turtles in Texas. If necessary, I am able to administer daily medications including checking blood sugar and giving insulin shots. I'm active and love to play, walk or simply cuddle with my client's pets. Whatever your pet(s) require is what I provide. I don't shy away from other types of animals that may also need care while you're away. My goal is to make everyone involved 100% comfortable. I will also water indoor/outdoor plants, grab your mail/packages and take the garbage and recycling bins out on trash day if asked. I carry private pet sitting insurance on top of the Rover guarantee for everyone's benefit. *Non-smoker*

Melanie is great! She gives our cat, Mabel, a lot of attention. We have had her visit multiple times, and will continue to.

Melanie did a great job tending our very shy and elusive cat for the 3 weeks we were gone. Since she hardly ever saw Muffin, she sent pictures of other objects in our house; we got so we were looking forward to seeing what was next! We highly recommend Melanie as a reliable pet sitter.

Information Melanie B. would like to know about your pet

I request that you have an ample supply of food, litter, any medications, etc., available before the job starts. Written directions/changes for food, etc. left on the counter is always helpful. I would like to know your dogs favorite toys, any fears and behavioral issues I should watch for. Also emergency contact info including your vet. Any breed accepted. I have worked with the majority of them.

A typical day

I prefer to walk in your neighborhood, if applicable. Always on a leash to keep everyone safe. I will clean up any messes with the bags I bring with me. Playing fetch in a fenced in yard is always fun! If there happens to be a basket of toys, I'm happy to play inside on rainy days (potty breaks at the start and end of each rainy day visit - I DO wipe paws).
