Pet care experience
I'm a former dog groomer (for five years) and I own three dogs (Sheltie and two Aussies) and a bird (Sun Conure) of my own. I'm well versed in dog behaviour and for an additional cost I will also trim dog nails for clients. I've owned birds for 14 years. I also work with my mom when she leaves town to care for her birds and fish. I have about 5 years experience doing drop in visits to care for cats and dogs, cleaning litter boxes, and making sure that the dogs had walks. I work full time and my schedule is pretty flexible. I get two days off and can come multiple times a day as well as night time periods as well. If a client is requesting me to keep a dog at my house I can talk and discuss options related to that. However, I can't spend the night over at a client's house due to my own animals. A bird, unless it has been fully vetted within the year and there is paper proof that I can be provided will not be allowed in my house so as to prevent the spread of communicable diseases to my own bird.

We've been having Mel walk our dog twice a week for months and it's been a great experience. He's really taken with her and there's a noticable improvement in his mood on days that she walks him.
Mel is an animal lover who cares deeply about her clients. She made a house call on the weekend to help trim my house rabbit who was too nervous to go to a groomer. She has the animal's best interest at heart and will do everything in her power to keep them happy and calm. I would definitely recommend and trust her to care for any of my pets!
Mel is such a lovely person to communicate with. She's a responsible, educated dog owner and enthusiast! Her own dogs are so well taken care of and I promise that in her care, your dogs will be too!
I've known Mel for almost 7 years and can attest to their strengths as a pet lover and caregiver. They have two amazing dogs - one of which has been trained as a service dog, training which Mel completed. They have experience with grooming and know how to care for pets both physically and emotionally. Mel does wonders with my high-energy and often anxious puppy, and I know I can turn to them for tips, best practices, and research-based solutions to my issues with him!

A typical day
I live near a dog park, I have several different routes around where I live, I also live fairly close to Hanging Rock and love to go up there on occasion. I like to play fetch, fun games, and pamper a pooch like they deserve to be! There are several absolutely beautiful parks where I live that I love to go too!
