looking for four legged friends

Pet care experience

Hi there Dog mums and dads! I am an active 30 year old special needs teacher and professional nanny pivoting in my career with hopes to become a dog trainer. Given my background- caring for any part of the family is natural to me! I grew up in a dog loving household and now have one of my own, an American Staffy mix. We have worked significantly on obedience training and I would love to apply the skills I have learned during my time with your pup! I am looking forward to the opportunity to care for yours. My mom had a 10 month old Bouvier de Flanders named Finn who I spent a lot of time with (training classes, walking trails, running, even sitting at our favorite cafe every morning! Unfortunately we lost him way too soon to cancer. He was a BIG breed and I am totally comfortable with that or small ones too. I also had a lovely bunny who thought he was a dog! What you can expect from me: communicative, punctual, honest, and responsible- and don't forget fun! I have a great deal of free time weekdays and occasionally some weekends when I am not doing special needs respite care. I look forward to meeting you!

Meghan is the best sitter from Rover I’ve ever had! She’s on top of it, detailed, on time and the dogs love her.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety is number 1 priority and fun comes in close second!! A few rule of thumbs I go by- 1. I never know how your dog or others may react to stimulus including other animals! Getting to know your dog is extremely important to me. A thorough conversation about your doggos strengths and challenges. 2. Leash ALWAYS while out unless I know your dog very well and it is agreed upon. 3. Always assume the dog may want to escape the house- doors and fences shut and locked are very important. 4. Having vet, medical info on hand (on my phone)! 5. Any other things we discuss as a team for the best care of your four legged pal!

Information Meghan T. would like to know about your pet

Any dog is a good dog- I'm happy to hang with any dog of any breed! I believe it is the environment and the owner who typically influence how the dog interacts with the world. However I do take into consideration the breed and what natural tendencies the dog may have. Is your dog trained? If yes what is your approach? Specifics such as following commands (come, sit, stay). Potty trained? Rate the level that you would say your dog is regarding being a flight risk? Does he/she tend to resource guard? (Food, toys, spaces? Does he/she get along with other dogs? Any issues including any instances with aggression as well as being the target of another dog’s aggression? Basically I am just looking to know those small yet important details which can help me provide the best care for your dog. Do they have any medical needs? Quirks, anxieties? What do they find most enjoyable?

A typical day

I am outdoorsy and happy to take dogs in my care to a variety of agreed upon settings such as the beach, parks, and trails or even a stroll through the neighborhood. I'm happy to continue to play fetch until your doggo is fulfilled (unless he is like my black lab was and needs a gentle reminder on when to take a breather!) I'm happy to help your pup stay in pristine condition with brushing or bathing if needed. And cuddles and pets are always great too! I have a special interest in continuing the training already implemented with pups and also have a good deal of confidence in my ability for training basic obedience.
