*HIGHLY Experienced* Loving Sitter!

Pet care experience

Hi! I am a 34 year old Syracuse University graduate and published playwright who is new to Chicago, but not at all new to being the BEST dogsitter on the face of the planet! 😂 I am a fairly recent transplant from NYC who moved to Chicago mid-pandemic to continue writing comedy while doing remote sales consulting part-time and petsitting nearly full-time. 🐾 I offer both overnight housesitting in clients’ homes and boarding/day care at my place in Lakeview East/Wrigleyville. I have a cute little one-bedroom close to Wrigley Field—it isn’t huge, but it’s definitely not tiny, and I have a great fenced-in backyard I share w/ the other residents in my small building. Pups are allowed on furniture/in my bed as long as clients are okay with that, and for clients seeking daycare for things like Pridefest/Pride parade, Cubs games, and other events in the neighborhood, I’m totally cool with you stopping over at my place throughout the day to check in on your pupper or take them out to enjoy a bit of the festivities with you and bring them back over when you’re ready for a break, etc 🐾⚾️🌈 Currently, 99% of what I do is working from home (or anywhere that has WiFi and an outlet for my laptop lol), so I have tons of time to spend with your fur babies and look forward to every minute of it! I am an absolute dog (and cat!) lover down to my very core, and the best part of doing pet care as a consistent side gig is that I REALLY miss having a pup of my own, and so getting to care for other people’s fur babies is super fun for me. I’d say nearly all of my past clients’ would agree that I’ve develop genuine relationships with their fur babies, and I really cherish having a unique connection with each animal. While you’re away, I’m interested in more than just feeding/walking your fur babies—I want them to have their own fun, special week or weekend while you’re away, and hikes, trips to the dog park, learning a new trick, and starting off the morning with 30 minutes of what I like to call “X-TREME Cuddling” are all just as fun for me as it is for them! 😂 I have over 11 years experience providing professional pet care and housesitting services, particularly for high-end/luxury properties in NYC & the Hamptons (but you DON’T need to live in the Taj Mahal to book me lol! A cool pup to hang with for the weekend is a cool pup to hang with for the weekend, and that’s all I need to make me happy! 😊). I got into this “niche industry” right after graduating college when I began working as a live-in nanny, and then, live-in personal assistant for several HNW/high-profile clients in NYC. That led to a TON of pet care & house-sitting opportunities for my clients and their friends, and most summers, I’ve managed to finagle my schedule so that I’ve been able to spend the summer at my family’s place in the Hamptons, where I board pups & do in-home overnight dogsitting in clients’ homes. Because I work remotely, I essentially make my own schedule, so not only will I be with your pets basically 24/7, I’m also able to be quite flexible with booking requests, meet and greets, and unforeseen last minute changes of plans, like clients’ flights home from Europe being delayed 18 hours 😊 I have a squeaky clean background check, can provide multiple EXCELLENT, verifiable references upon request, and you can also look to my profile for STELLAR reviews from past Rover clients! I have an EXTENSIVE pet care background (including housebreaking/behavioral training), detailed below, and I am a licensed driver with over a decade of driving experience and a spotless driving record (I also have valid US Passport, ability to travel internationally, and experience with international house/pet sits in Ireland and Canada). As a seasoned traveler who loves experiencing new places & cultures, I’m always interested to hear about long or short-term assignments outside of the Chicago area, domestically and internationally (in which case, I'm very happy to interview via Skype, FaceTime, etc.) Not only am I responsible and reliable (which my references can certainly attest to), I'm incredibly respectful of people's homes, am always available via cell phone and return calls & texts immediately, and am happy to go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure your home and other details are taken care of so you can rest easy whilst traveling (ie. I’m happy take their car for inspection while you’re away, or to stock up on groceries for you the day before you return). I've worked a lot in tandem with housekeepers/house managers/caretakers, and with the amount of experience I’ve had throughout the years, there isn’t much I haven’t seen at this point and I can assure you if anything unexpected happens, like a radiator suddenly starts spewing scalding water all over the living room, it won’t be my first rodeo handling it for a client and you are in great hands! (True story, by the way! ...and I handled it perfectly, if you’re wondering 😂). Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, and I promise, no questions are silly questions! 😊🐾

Meggie is the BEST! We typically send Bowen to boarding when we travel but decided to give Rover a shot and are so happy we did. Meggie was fantastic with Bowen - and with me as a helicopter dog mom! She sent photos and updates regularly and was always quick to respond when I reached out. I felt a million times better leaving him at home with her versus boarding. We’ll definitely book with her again and again and again!!!

Meggie did such a fantastic job with my French Bulldog! This was the longest my partner and I had left the dog alone, just over two weeks. We wanted someone to come stay with her because she has some special needs and it was such a long time. Meggie made sure that the dog got all of her meds, reinforced commands/training, and was an amazing houseguest to boot. My partner and I especially appreciated the level of communication Meggie provided, which let us know that the dog was doing just fine so we were able to enjoy our travels. All the pictures and videos helped when we were missing our pooch. Thank you so much, Meggie! If we need to leave town again for an extended period of time we will definitely ask to re-book.

Meggie was wonderful with our 4 year old, hyper but very friendly dog. She was very communicative and cleaned up after she was here. She even baked us a welcome home treat! Highly recommend!

Meggie is absolutely amazing. We had a last minute cancellation and were scrambling to find a replacement sitter… Meggie stepped up immediately and was awesome from the start. Super positive, great communication, and most importantly, my pup loves her. We’ll definitely ask Meggie to sit for us again.

Information Meggie D. would like to know about your pet

***PLEASE LET ME KNOW ANY MEDICAL/BEHAVIORAL ISSUES ON OUR 1st PHONE CALL*** Primarily, I'd like to know about behavior (including any training/behavioral issues the parents would like taught/reinforced) and temperament (cuddly dog, active/hyperactive pup, loves/hates socializing with other dogs, separation anxiety, etc). It’s EXTREMELY helpful to know how your dog is with other pups (ones who are socialized/friendly with other dogs), and if you have a puppy, if it has been socialized much (and if not, if that is something you would like me to help with). Also, any unique/odd quirks your pup has (ie. “If you see Coco scratching at the closet door, it means she needs to go out. No clue why she scratches at the closet instead of the side door that she actually goes out through, but that’s what she does” or “Pax freaks out when you turn on the overhead fan, so just use the oscillating fan that’s plugged in by the corner”). Same goes for any “house quirks” when housesitting (ie. You have to turn the dishwasher dial counterclockwise to get the ‘quick wash’ setting to work).

A typical day

Here's the bottom line: Going far beyond simply providing the proper care and attention your pet requires, I'm an active and engaging sitter and true animal lover who looks forward to the play, cuddles, and company as much (if not a bit more!) than your pet does. I pet-sit the same way I babysit- ACTIVELY. I'm the polar opposite of the "walk em, feed em, leave em" sitter, and I truly believe if we're not both tired out by the end of our time together, I must not be doing something right! ?? In terms of pet care, I am highly experienced and comfortable with the following: feeding, walking, transportation to vet/groomer, administering medication orally and in food or dropper, overnight & extended stays [in clients' homes as well as my own], behavioral training, housebreaking/training, daily play & exercise. I'm HIGHLY experienced & comfortable with large/medium/small dogs, cats, fish, rodents/small animals, birds & reptiles, some farm animals/livestock and basic daily care for horses. I'm also experienced caring for animals with various medical & social/emotional/behavioral needs- Please detail any of these issues if applicable. Lastly, I have absolutely zero criminal history or any trouble with the law (equally spotless motor vehicle record, as well) and I'm happy to provide my information & consent for you to run any background check/police check you'd like

Because I work remotely, I essentially make my own schedule, so not only will I be with your pets basically 24/7, I have a ton of flexibility throughout any given day for lots of walks, playtime, and cuddle breaks 😊. That flexibility also extends to my calendar, so when it comes to booking request dates, scheduling meet-and-greets, and unforeseen/unexpected changes, like a client’s flight home from Europe getting delayed for 18 hours, then cancelled, and then rescheduled for the following evening (Yes, true story lol)
