Pet care experience
We're Josh & Meggan, and we sold our Atlanta, GA home in July 2023 to housesit full-time (at least for the next year or so)! We're animal and travel lovers who've found a part-time calling in this wonderful world of petsitting. No hotel or airbnb can match the symbiotic rewards of this adventure, and we’ve been delighted to experience the personalities of more animals than we can count on our hands and feet. The greatest reward of petsitting has been the shades of personality that pets reveal as we become their family-by-proxy. With patience, we always end up feeling privileged to be "let in." We welcome detailed care instructions and/or special needs cases and take care to understand your pet's needs, temperament, and any medication requirements. We both grew up with many cats and dogs, and together we lost our cat (who'd grown up with Josh for 17 years) in 2021. We've returned to petsitting as a travel-filled bridge between that huge loss and eventually again committing to pets of our own. If you could be a fly on the wall while we housesit, you would see lots of cooking, reading, movie-watching, writing, guitar-strumming from Josh, working out/yoga (... at least, *hopefully* on that one!), and computer work. We love long walks and hikes, which may be the main reason we leave the house at all. We also seek sits with a dedicated (and cleared-off) work space and that would consider sharing instruments and/or exercise equipment. Despite a degree in International Business, I (Meggan) have mostly earned a living in the film/tv industry, but now prefer quiet days spent writing and pursuing other creative endeavors. Josh's degree is in mechanical engineering, and he somehow ended up running a music venue before moving onto be a builder and fixer. Once we settle down with a chunk of land, he'll be building out several cool, tiny, and sustainable rental properties. It's impossible to measure how enriching life has been as a result of bringing positive attitudes and symbiosis to our sits, and we hope to continue that trend to all corners of the world.

Our pups came back with big smiles and wagging tails after Meggan watched them for a long weekend. I have a sneaking suspicion they would've rather stayed away then come back home!! :)
I chose Meggan to watch my Yorkie but ended up, at the last minute, having to cancel. She graciously offered me a refund which was so nice because it was last minute. She was very nice to deal with, and I will be using her the next time I need care for my pet.
Our dog Rocky had a great stay with Meggan. She sent lots of photos during the stay, and was really flexible with drop-off/pick-up times. Thank you!
Another great stay with Meggan! It's always nice to know that my dog is having fun and is well cared for. The fact that he sprints to her front door tells me he loves his stay. I didn't worry about him the whole week I was away. Recommended!

We've cared for dogs, cats, birds, alpacas, sheep, chickens, lizards, horses, cows, and more in settings such as high elevations, deep snow, complete isolation, busy cities, and everything in-between. Because we tend to take long-term sits (>1 month), our specialty is catsitting (I'm a devotee, but Josh could make a living as a cat whisperer). We fuel up on canine energy anytime we're available for shorter stints. We're experienced with garden and pool maintenance and don't shy away from home upkeep or other chores. We also aim to keep energy bills low and try to live as sustainably as possible (part of this means we’re avid cooks and value a well-loved kitchen). Since we used to rent out our place, we know the value of returning to a home that’s hopefully even cleaner than how you left it.

A typical day
We are not currently boarding. Only accepting sits if 2-week minimum, which has the added benefit of keeping your pet's routine as close to regular as possible.

Availability
We're "nomadic" and live and work from home, which means pets get LOTS of time, care, and attention. Because we like to get into routine and that takes time, we're only looking for sits of at the very minimum 2 weeks, but prefer much longer.
