Lucky Dog Country Retreat

Pet care experience

RECENTLY I SUFFERED AN INJURIOUS ATTACK BY A REACTIVE DOG. AS I HEAL AND REFLECT, I AM NO LONGER OFFERING BOARDING AT THIS TIME. Hi, I'm Megan. Welcome to Lucky Dog Country Retreat, an 8-acre doggy paradise just 30 minutes south of downtown Omaha, where my family and I lead doggy adventures and lavish love on our canine guests. Your buddy will enjoy lots of exercise, sunshine, and fresh air on our property and on nearby outings to private, family-owned spring-fed ponds, as well as public trails. We can help reinforce your training or work with your pooch on some scent work activities (ask about our hot dog track). We can master some agility with our equipment. Or we can just chill and play fetch in our yard. Unlike other dog boarding options, at Lucky Dog Country Retreat, your buddy will get a minimum of three active hours of exercise outside every day. At night, we enhance doggy relaxation with aromatherapy diffusers, Kongs stuffed with homegrown chicken, dog puzzles, classical music, and cuddles, of course. You can also rest easy knowing that I am certified in Pet CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross. My husband Adam and I have two sons: a 6-year-old and a baby born in January 2018; two poodles and a heeler mix who are also essential members of our family; four barn cats; ducks; chickens; and goats. We'll let your pooch meet all the residents, but we'll limit games of chase to the humans and the doggies. Guests booking 5+ nights enjoy a complimentary goodbye bath with Earthbath products. (So long, country dog smell!) In some instances, we can pick up or drop off your dog for a small additional fee. Drop off is between 3pm and 9pm. Pickup is between 7am and 1pm. Daycare rates apply if you cannot pick up before 1pm. Multiple dog discounts may apply for some parties. Your dog may sleep In his or her dog bed, cot, or crate. Furniture is invite-only. We will be home most of the time with your pup, but if we take a quick trip to the store or elsewhere, we need to secure the dogs in a crate or bathroom until they prove not to be destructive. Also: we require a meet and greet prior to booking to make sure we are a good fit for your needs. Finally, we’d like to note that we think giving back to canine causes is our responsibility. Most recently, we donated more than $700 to the Nebraska Humane Society’s Margre Durham Walk the Animals. Thanks so much for taking a look! We hope to meet you and your doggo soon.

We drop our 3 yr old Great Dane puppy with Megan over our wedding weekend in Nebraska City. Not only did I receive photos of Lilith having fun but Megan drove her to the wedding and picked her back up after. Lilith had so much fun I wasn’t sure if she was going to come home with us! Best dog sitting experience we’ve ever had. Lilith will definitely be visiting Megan and her family again!!

Tryg had so much fun with Megan and her family! She worked with him on herding goats, he ate fresh home-grown chicken in a kong, played with her dogs and cooled off in their kiddie pool. The experience could not have been better for him and I loved getting photos of his adventure at Megan's.

Megan is wonderful. I never worried about my dogs care. She sent messages and pictures that helped when I missed my baby.

My dog, Hope, had a wonderful stay with Megan and her family! She loved running in the fields with her new friends (their dogs) and she met goats for the first time! Megan was great about sending updates and photos/videos every day, and she even taught Hope how to jump on the agility course they have in their yard. I highly recommend Megan for boarding and day care. We will be back soon!
