I am a current Masters student at Columbia University. I have six small dogs back home and have grown up around dogs all my life, so have great experience with them. Three of my dogs are rescues, and on top of that I've also volunteered at a pet shelter socializing rescued dogs and cats. Over the past few years, I have also gained lots of experience with all kinds of dogs on Rover. I miss my pups a lot, and am looking for some puppy love! Most importantly, I make sure I always know where the dog is, and that all doors/possible exits are secured. I also make sure the dog doesn't eat anything that will make them unwell or they shouldn't be eating. I follow the dog's behavioral cues, walking or playing with them if they have a lot of energy, or leaving them be if they don't want the attention. I know how important consistency is for dogs, especially ones that are learning, so I always check any specific household or behavioral rules or routines with owners ahead of time.

I want any dog I spend time with to have the best experience possible. It would be good to know what kind of rules or schedules the dog(s) might have, especially for house sitting and doggy daycare. Additionally, its good to know if the dog has any specific habits or behaviors to watch out for (e.g. chases after squirrels, good/bad with dogs/people/children, etc.).
A typical day
I will go on walks around the neighborhood, in particular around some of New York's lovely parks. I find that dogs tend to remember their favorite routes, so try to let the dog take the lead - within reason of course!

I can stay with your pet nearly all day during the week, with the exception of about 6-8 pm when I have class at Columbia Morningside Heights.
