Normal Heights Pet Care
Pet care experience
I’ve had pets all my life, and I adopted my current dog Shadow just over 3 years ago when he was 3 months old. Before Shadow, I had Dax, whom I adopted when I was in college and was with me until she was an old lady! Over her last year, she had various medical needs associated with an autoimmune condition and kidney failure. I’m new in San Diego, but I’ve dog-sat regularly for dogs in our last home, as well as frequent drop-in care for cats, including administering insulin and various meds.
Reviews
Megan was super nice, friendly, and accommodating with dropoff and pickup times, and our dogs got along great. Thanks!
Megan was extremely personable and took great care of Kaia.
Megan was wonderful! I felt so comfortable with her staying at my place and watching my 1 year old pup. She provided me with pictures and updates throughout my vacation, which reassured me that my dog was having fun and well taken care of. I would not hesitate to book Megan again.
Megan was so accommodating and communicative throughout our entire trip! She took our dog in on relatively short notice, was so great with her, and sent us pictures of her throughout the stay! Her dog Shadow is so cute and got along really well with ours. We would love to have our dog stay with Megan again in the future!

I live in a condo in Normal Heights with my rescue lab mix, Shadow. We used to pet sit frequently back east, and he misses his friends (even though he does get frequent visits to the dog beaches)! For boarding, we will do an intro visit first to make sure everyone gets along. I’m home most of the time, but dogs will be separated when I do need to leave. Because I live in a condo, I generally only take one dog in addition to my own. Important note: I'm on the second floor, so if your dog can't do stairs and can't be carried, I won't be the best fit. For house sitting, I'll be bringing my dog Shadow with me. He loves to make canine friends, but that does rule out homes with cats! I will need access to good internet so I can work from home reliably during the week.

Information Megan J. would like to know about your pet
For boarding/house sitting, please be honest about how comfortable your dog is with another dogs. I do need to work from home during the week, so any strategies to keep your dog mellow during Zoom meetings are important. Please let me know any feeding habits- either guarding behavior, or being a "grazer" which may need to be managed with another dog.
A typical day
My favorite thing about San Diego is the variety of places to explore on walks. I live in a great neighborhood to explore, and my dog Shadow and I like to hike local trails and go running at the Mission Beach boardwalk. While I'm not comfortable taking a dog that's new to me to a dog park or unfenced area, I'll be sure to manage your dog's energy level and give him or her the stimulation or rest s/he needs- whether that's an extra trip on their own, or an hour or two at home in peace.

Availability
I work full time, but work from home other than on Tuesdays, when I go to the office in North Park- so it's pretty easy to include a dog guest into our routine. If you're a repeat client and I'm showing as unavailable on Rover, please message me! I may have more flexibility than it looks like.
