Since the age of 5 years old, I have wanted to be a veterinarian. I loved animals. I grew up with the most adorable white miniature poodle. She had an injury from a larger dog biting her. I was always the one to take care of her. She had had dead muscle from a dog bite. The veterinarian told us how to clean her infected and swollen bite. I remember no one in my family wanted to help her because it smelled of rotten flesh. I took a syringe with betadine solution and filled the infected area. Then I would drain the fluids out of the infected site. It was challenging and very strong smelling, but so worth it even at a young age. I have always loved playing with, caring for, and loving on animals. My husband, daughter and I currently have a mixed terrior/dachshund. She was given to us by our neighbors. They did not treat her well, so we worked with her to potty train her and teach her how to be dog. To me life is not complete without a dog.
