Critter Companion

Pet care experience

Hello! I am a student studying wildlife conservation. I have lots of experience caring for all sorts of critters. I have personally owned/grew up with cats, snakes, a bearded dragon, fish, tortoises, and turtles. I have provided care for countless dogs - they're my favorite hiking and jogging buddies. I wish I could have one, so instead, I settle for hanging out with my friends' and neighbors' dogs. In addition to pet care, I have worked with animals in zoos, labs, and in the wild. I'm comfortable performing basic health procedures, administering medications, and can recognize signs of illness and distress among pets. I was the health manager for the tuco lab at Berkeley. I promise your pet will be in loving hands. I guarantee an abundance of cuddles and scritches. Additionally, I can help with any indoor or outdoor plant care. I volunteer at my local community garden. I have taken some landscape horticulture classes through Merritt College. **Please feel free and book with me wherever you are and for how ever long. However, due to my schedule as a student and having to drive between Berkeley and my home, I generally can not provide care in homes east of the Oakland hills. Thank you for understanding.**

Megan went above and beyond to ensure our pups were well taken care of. She was responsive, communicative, detail-oriented, friendly and highly responsible. There were some minor issues with our own home while we were away but she even took care of them no problem. Overall, our dogs loved Megan and we would 10/10 recommend her as a sitter. We hope to use her services again!

Megan was great! She provided regular updates and dealt with an unexpected issue with the fence. Would recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter!

First and foremost, my wife and I can’t recommend Megan enough! We went out of town for a week or so and Megan looked after our 2-3yr anxious pit mix doggo, Ollie, and home and did an amazing job! We met with Megan a couple of times to introduce her to Ollie ( he has a bit of stranger danger ) and Megan was patient, considerate and listened to all of our questions/comments/concerns. Additionally, she was extremely thoughtful and patient when working with Ollie in order to gain his trust. She followed all of our guidance and made us feel at ease while we were away. We would absolutely recommend her and will definitely request bookings with her in the future.

Again- Megan provided my dog the best care. She took him on multiple hikes, communicated well- and really gave my dog the love and affection he needs to not be stressed while I’m away. Would highly recommend Megan!

I want to make your time away from your pets as stress-free as possible. I will send lots of photos of our time together. I will take good care of your home, respect your house rules and make sure to clean up after your pets and myself. I'm happy to water plants, check the mail, take out the trash bins - whatever y'all would need from a house sitter while you're away. I enjoy cooking so please let me know if there are any dietary restrictions or allergies in your household and don't want certain foods in your home. Or if you'd prefer I didn't cook in your kitchen at all :)

Information Megan C. would like to know about your pet

This is why I schedule meet-and-greets. If scheduling is tight I'm happy to do them over facetime/zoom or a phone call. Your pet is unique and so are their needs. Obviously, their health and safety is my first concern. Medications and health issues I need to keep an eye on are of utmost importance. I'd also like to hear about their typical routine so I have a schedule to follow (time and duration of walks, meal times and amounts, activity level, etc.). Any training they're undergoing so I can reinforce those behaviors.

A typical day

I like to say I try and make your vacation a vacation for your animals as well. I try to maintain their routines as best as I am able so I can minimize the stress of your absence (they miss you!). I also distract them with fun adventures! Activity level and location are, of course, dependent upon you and your pet's comfort level. I love going on long walks and hikes with my canid companions - Sibley and Redwood Regional are two of my favorite parks. If your dog likes being off-leash I try and take them somewhere they can run. While I usually don't do dog parks because of the problems other dogs may cause - I'm happy to oblige if your dog is social and enjoys these outings. If you have an aquatic dog, I'd love to take them down to Buchannan beach for a little swim in the bay. Overall, I love exploring new places and am always looking for recommendations of dog-friendly outings. Then after making sure your pooch is thoroughly exhausted, time to come home for some good cuddles while I work on homework.

I am a student in the process of creating a career in which I can spend as much time as possible with animals. It is a relatively flexible schedule. When I'm not in class I enjoy working outside and take breaks by going for walks in the neighborhood and nearby parks. I could easily fit your pet into that routine! In fact - I feel they're just what I've been missing :)
