Work-from-Home Dog Mom

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m a freelance writer and project consultant with a background in public education. Working from home allows me to devote quality time and attention to my own dog, Bodie, and all of our puppy friends who stay with us. My repeat families would describe me as flexible, reliable, and genuine in my desire to make sure their dogs are not only safe and comfortable but having a great time!

Megan is absolutely incredible — she truly went above and beyond!!! She watched Pepper for our wedding weekend (and even brought her to our ceremony so she could walk down the aisle). On top of that, she did so much for Pepper to help her keep calm during what was a confusing time for her. It was such a relief to know Megan was watching her and coordinating with her for all of the wedding details was such a breeze. We’ll be forever grateful for her huge help ❤️❤️❤️

Safety, trust & environment

Our home is an ideal space for dogs of all friendly dispositions, from energetic and cuddly to laidback and couch-oriented :) I keep collars on at all times, and leashes/harnesses on during walks. I can accommodate scenarios where a dog would prefer its crate or need to be gated in a separate area of the house. In any scenario, your dog will never be left alone for more than 2 hours. Our home is not ideal for dogs who don’t get along with other dogs, dogs who struggle with hardwood floors, aggressive dogs, or sick/injured dogs.

Information Megan B. would like to know about your pet

If it is your first time booking with me, I prefer to schedule a meet-up in advance so that your dog can meet my dog, Bodie. Bodie is a 3-year-old black lab and my best buddy! He gets along great with other dogs and gets very excited to meet them and (sniff down) their owners (for treats…)! He has gone through at home training and we reinforce regularly. If you're booking a walk/drop-in, please inform me of any food/water and bathroom needs, as well as if there is a particular route I should walk your dog. Please also share instructions for parking, as well as entering/exiting the house or neighborhood – I want to make sure your dog and home are safe when I leave!

A typical day

"Play hard, nap hard" tends to be our pattern during the day! I play inside and outside with my dog and any guest pups throughout the morning and afternoon, with intermittent quiet time and naps throughout the day. My yard is fenced in, so your dog can run around safely. I have balls, frisbees, durable toys, and even a doggie swimming pool that I fill up from time to time! We will go on a walk as long as the heat index is not too high. Basically, your dog will be on vacation while you're away :) We tend to spend the last two hours before bed settling down, which is when I typically send updates to my families who are boarding a dog with us. I am more than happy to provide additional updates as requested and I generally do so if it is a family’s first time boarding their dog with us. I can accommodate any feeding, medication, and sleeping regimens. We are also more than happy to share treats, toys, food/water bowls, leashes, harnesses, towels, and doggie bags! I do have a crate if your dog is used to sleeping in a crate at night. All you need to bring is their food supply and any special items you think might make them feel more comfortable and happy while they are staying with me.

I currently offer dog boarding, drop in, and walking services. I have a strict policy of only boarding one dog at a time, as I’ve found that works best for the comfort and happiness of all living creatures in the home :) If I leave the home, it is to run a brief errand and I am never gone for more than 2 hours.
