Pet care experience
I love to go for walks and play outside, but most of all I love dogs. I currently have my own Pet Care and Dog Training business. I also volunteer for WoofMeow Rescue and run the donation based training program for shelter pets. Before coming to Asheville I worked as a member of a professional dog walking and pet care business in the city of Pittsburgh where I cared for a plethora of furry friends and loved every second of it. Over the past year I have worked at Asheville Humane Society in Animal Care and the Behavior Department. I helped to train and teach basic manners to our young shelter dogs, as well as working with our timid dogs to build their confidence and ultimately allow them to create bonds with potential adopters. I have a lot of experience with dogs and cats of all ages, backgrounds and temperaments, but don't shy away from smaller furry or scaly friends. I have one dog. Morty, is a 4 year old friendly Sheltie-Jack Russel mix who loves to have play dates with four-legged friends. We have a large yard that is perfect for running and playing. We also frequently go for adventures to dog friendly trails and parks. Can't wait to meet you and your pet!!!

Megan was INCREDIBLE! I had a very chaotic week and was able to book last minute. She took my pup hiking and sent me pictures. Additionally, she was very professional and experienced. I felt very safe and comfortable leaving my pup with her. She is qualified and will go above and beyond.

There is no question in my mind: I'd trust any pet of mine, no matter the degree of care needed, with Megan. During our time working together as dog walkers and sitters in Pittsburgh, I admired her patience with, skill around, and, of course, love for all of the many pets she interacted with on a daily basis. Megan has soft manner, which is disarming for nervous furry friends, but can easily discipline at the precise moments when it becomes necessary to do so. She may be slight in build, but I've seen her expertly handle dogs that outweighed her, as she knows keenly how to immediately command Alpha status with a pup, necessary for everyone's safety, while still leaving plenty of space for cuddles. I heartily recommend Megan to be added to the Rover team!
I worked alongside Megan as a professional dog walker for about a year and can say that she is more than qualified to take care of your pet! Individually we would walk 5 to 7 dogs at a time so any challenges thrown her way she will be able to handle. She carries herself in a confident, professional manner when handling dogs and will be extremely reliable when caring for your best friend. She also has taken care of my cat on various occasions when I have been out of town and I have always returned to a happy, cared for pet. Megan will be a beyond exceptional choice for your pet care needs!

We love dogs of all ages and breeds! That said, we need to make sure we're a good fit for each other. ***For Dog Walks*** A meet and greet is required at YOUR home so that your dog can see me in their space and I can get acquainted with the dog areas (where leashes, dirty paw towels, etc. are stored.) ***For Boarding and Doggy Day care*** A meet and greet is required at MY home so that your dog can check out my space and make sure it is a good fit. Also, we will need to arrange an introduction to my pup, Morty, if they haven't met previously on walks or from past stays.
A typical day
We have a yard with plenty of toys for entertainment and exercise. I will make sure your pup will not have an opportunity to get bored. We live close to the Azalea Dog Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway where we frequently go on hikes. ***For Dog Walks*** Walks are a half hour in duration, but can be tailored to fit your dogs needs. Whether your dog is crazy with energy or slow and steady, I will make sure they get the kind of walk that fits their lifestyle. I walk in rain or shine. I will clean up and dry off your pup if we manage to get dirty - No dirty paws on the carpet!!! With your permission during the winter months I will apply Musher's Secret to protect your dogs paws from the cold, snow, and salt. Their comfort and safety is a priority. ***For Boarding and Doggy Day care*** During your dogs stay with me they will get either - a morning and evening walk or - a day hike included in their stay. Of course, if your pup is up there in years, a mosey around the yard will be offered instead. All of Morty's toys are free game, but feel free to bring that favourite toy that your pup just can't live without. As the evening approaches, your pup will have more than enough time to get some snuggles in with us on our couch as we settle in for the night.
