Medically Experienced Sitter

Pet care experience

I have been working in animal shelters for ten years caring for pets of all shapes and sizes! I am comfortable with all breeds and sizes of dogs. Bullies welcome! I am also comfortable with typical behavior challenges. I love working with cats and can be particularly helpful with cat behavior cases. Feel free to let me know if you need assistance working through some kitty problems like litter box issues or high arousal! Additionally, I have experience caring for smallies (rabbits, guinea pigs, birds etc). These guys are very delicate so it’s incredibly important to have a sitter who can keep them healthy and safe! I have extensive medical experience and I am comfortable giving subcutaneous, oral, and topical medications. Working in a shelter I know how hard it can be for pets when they’re people aren’t around-my job is to make sure that they are as relaxed and happy as possible! Hopefully, this will also provide pet parents with a well deserved break and peace of mind. Please feel free to let me know how I can help you and your furry friend(s)!

Safety, trust & environment

In a clients home I think it’s critical to follow their given instructions to keep the animal’s experience as normal as possible while their parents are away! I also love to send notes and photos to the pet parents. I think knowing their pet is happy and safe while they are away is a huge relief.

Information Meg O. would like to know about your pet

I think it is important to know as much about the dog as possible before sitting for him or her! I want to make the animal's experience as close to their normal routine as possible so this is key information for me to have. Additionally, I think it is very important to tailor each visit to the animal's unique needs. For this reason, I like to know more about the personality of the pet including their favorite activities, fears or behaviors to take note of, and how they prefer to interact with new people. I work with dogs of all breeds every day and do not discriminate based on breed, age, gender, or size!

A typical day

I love to spend lots of quality time with the dogs I'm watching! I am an avid runner so I am happy to take dogs for long walks or runs if they would like. I enjoy playing games such as fetch or tug of war as well. I have a great deal of experience administering medications and caring for special needs dogs if that is required. Additionally, I would be happy to simply sit and pet your dog if they are older or do not enjoy playing!

I currently have a part time job in the service industry in addition to my pet sitting. Typically, if I am at work I have a 4-5 hour shift. For this reason dogs in boarding in my care do need to be able to be alone for short periods of time. On my days off (or days when I work evenings) I can take doggy day care clients and dog walking during the day. However, since I do get my schedule released on a Friday I often have to schedule these on a week to week basis.
