Pet care experience

Experienced pet sitter both professionally and personally. I frequently care for friend’s animals when they are away and also worked professionally as a dog sitter and walker for Safe Journey Dog Boarding and as a sitter with another boarding platform. I have experience with senior dogs, physical disabilities, blind dogs, giving oral and eye medications, basic training, bathing, and other specialized care. I have one small female dog named Freddie (16 lbs) who gets along well other dogs and goes regularly to dog parks, as well as on kayaking, hiking, and camping adventures. She is more than happy to share her toy box full of toys, and has no food or other aggression (except maybe barking at squirrels ;) Freddie prefers to hang out and sniff stuff with other dogs more than wrestle and be physical. And don’t let her size fool you- she loves calmer big dogs, too! I also make personalized photoshop pics (see my photos) so your pup can virtually vacation with you. It’s pretty darn cute 😜

Meagan is the best! My two pups were so well taken care of while I was gone. Meagan’s kind demeanor was reflected in the dogs behavior. I think they were smiling when I picked them up. The pictures she sent daily made me smile! Also put me at ease being away from them. Recommend her highly!

Meagan is outstanding and I cannot recommend her enough. She is extremely compassionate and patient. Her extra special care for our somewhat needy senior dog was so appreciated. Her fun “pup dates” gave us great joy. We were able to relax on our trip with confidence that our pup was being cared for as if he was at home.

Meagan took care of our dog for 19 days which is a long time and we were very nervous to be away from her for so long. Meagan, was wonderful. She was communicative, sent lots of pictures and reassurances. I am confident our dog was well cared for and her stress from being away from home was minimized. It was also great that she walked her on a regular basis!!! I would highly recommend her and will definitely only request her should we need to board Snickers, again.

Soooo, so, SO thankful to have found Meagan and Miss Freddie! Meagan has a beautiful home and awesome backyard that my dogs surely had a ball in. The environment of her home is calm and cozy which was particularly great for my older dog who can be anxious. From the cute updates and pictures she sent I could see that my dogs were feeling quite comfortable and at home. Even her dog (Miss Freddie) is extremely friendly and I think added to the fun of the stay. They are just such a great duo. I felt 100 percent comfortable knowing that my dogs were safe in her care and was able to relax and enjoy my family vacation.

The home is located 5 minutes from the freeway close-in to downtown Oregon City, but feels like a casual farmhouse getaway, complete with vegetable gardens and chickens. The yard is spacious and fully-fenced, even for teeny tiny dogs, and shared with four chickens who have their own fully fenced and well-secured area (dogs do not come into contact with the chickens during their stay). There is even a small fish pond pups can dip their paws in if they choose to. nside, there’s lots of space to explore, or take a nap, and yes, dogs are allowed on the furniture here! (unless the owner is opposed to that). Freddie will share all her toys with your dog(s) and is respectful with shy doggies and happy to give them their space. There’s enough room to stretch out and have personal space, or play together. I have experience with giving medications, including all forms of pills and oral drops, as well as chemo drugs which require special handling, and eye medicines. My dog has a chronic eye condition, so I am well-versed in medication administration and keeping on a medicine schedule. I also have experience with dogs with special diet needs, as well, and am happy to accommodate any special instructions with feeding. We do not feed people-food to dogs in this house, but if it’s ok with the dog parents, they do get the occasional dog treat. Also, Freddie is fully vaccinated, spayed, and up to date with flea, tick and heartworm medications, always, and I ask that dogs that stay with us are too. There’s a short flight of steps off the back porch to the yard, but for senior dogs who have trouble with stairs, we can always go out the front and around the side gate, which is a gentle grassy slope. Inside, there are no stairs, so easy for older dogs to get around. Nighttime routine is the dogs get to sleep in my room, either on their bed on the floor or if they’re used to sleeping in a human bed, thats where they’ll probably end up ;) Some dogs choose to sleep in the living room, and that’s just fine, too! Crating is an option, for example if the dog parents are currently crate-training and request it, but generally dogs that stay here are never in a crate. I’m happy to answer any specific questions you may have, and looking forward to meeting you and your pup!

Any special needs including behaviors such as food aggression, bolting/running, or destructive chewing, medications, special diets, or separation anxiety are important things to know ahead of time.

A typical day

Freddie and I go out in the yard first thing and then have breakfast. During the day, depending on my work schedule, we’ll either take a morning walk or an afternoon walk in the neighborhood, and on weekends go on hikes or longer walks nearby, keeping in mind our guest dog’s abilities or limitations. Throughout the day, the dogs are supervised and free to roam the house, go out in the yard, snooze on the couch, play with toys, or any other typical dog-at-home activity they want. I try to make it feel as close to home as possible, and also like a vacation for our guests. If dog-mom and dog-dad are going to Hawaii, dog-dog should get some special treatment too!

I work from home with a very flexible schedule and have plenty of time to give attention to your pup! I am not chained to my desk all day, and am able to take breaks to give attention, belly rubs, yard time and walks. I follow a routine of set breakfast and dinner times, with a morning or evening walk in the neighborhood. I am diligent in following any specific feeding and/or medication regimen. During the week we do neighborhood walks, and on weekends, weather permitting for the season, a regional park with trails to stretch the legs. Please let me know if your pup has any issues with short car rides, as some parks require driving to reach. I do have doggy seatbelts that click to a harness.
