Pet care experience
Remember in Kindergarten when the teacher asked you what you want to be when you grow up? While most little girls said princess, I said veterinarian (after a semester of interning at a vet clinic/boarding facility, I realized boarding was more for me). Since I knew how to dream, my dream has always been to work with animals. Growing up I had animals of all shapes and sizes - cats (6 of them at once, actually!), dogs, birds, hamsters, hermit crabs, and even millipedes (it was for a school project, but I loved it). When I moved away for college, it only took a month or two for me to realize I just couldn't survive without animals in my home. That's when I started fostering kittens for my local animal shelter. I've fostered cats of all sorts. Sick kittens, three-legged kittens, momma's and their babies, feral recovering cats, you name it. I just wanted to help. I spent more time volunteering at the shelter than I did at my actual job, or even on school work. (Don't worry, I still passed!) I worked with dogs of all shapes and sizes there, as well. Eventually, I realized working without animals was simply not worth working, so I got my first job in the pet industry. I spent almost two years working at a natural pet pantry in St. George, Utah. Here I was extensively trained in pet nutrition and care, where I learned the best way to care for dogs in all sort of situations. I worked here helping customers taking the best care of their dogs until I had my baby girl. After 6 months of maternity leave, I realized I really wanted to work with animals again. I loved staying home with my pups and my baby, but I just had to have more animals in my life. This is when I began working at a pet boarding facility in Park City, Utah. Here I was the Kennel Manager, where I handled up to 30 dogs at a time. This was my absolute strong spot. I loved going to work everyday, I was excited to make the commute, and I worked my butt off every day to make sure those dogs had a great time. I knew from my first day working at that facility that one day, I wanted to open my own boarding facility, straight out of my home. I wanted to create a second home for my clients, where they can get all the love, attention and spoiling they get at home, even when their parents are away. My husband has graciously supported me in this idea, as his love for animals is (almost) equal to mine. We started by welcoming dogs into our small home via Rover, until we were finally ready to purchase an acre of land and build our boarding facility - BARC. I promise your dog will be loved and treated as if they were my own (which is a really good thing, trust me!) If you are looking for someone you trust to care for the animals that matter most, you can look no further. I would be happy to do a meet and greet at any point, to show you our facility and how well your fur baby fits in it. Make that reservation, you won't regret it! I permanently work from home, so I will have all the time in the world to spend with your babies! I will be available for boarding and day care 7 days a week, with availability for other services throughout the week as well. I have a large, fenced in yard, where your pup can play as much (or as little) as they want. My five pups love company, but they can also be kept separate easily at your request! They will have their own safe, clean, comfortable environments as well. If you have any special requests, we are happy to accomodate them.

I’ve left NutMeg with McKenzi twice before and have been very happy. This time was different. McKenzi is very busy with a new kennel project and I think she is stretched thin. I don’t feel NutMeg got the same quality of care as in the past visits. She was kept in a small kennel inside a new shed on the building property. It was too small for her to move around in so she could only lay on the doggy bed. When I got NutMeg home she was covered in tiny burrs. They weren’t easy to remove from her hair. All in all, it wasn’t the best visit.
She’s great, our dogs loved her even more than we do lol
McKenzi generously agreed to walk Cleo on short notice while I visited a local museum during a road trip. When we picked her up she was in a terrific mood. It was such a refreshing break for us both, for Cleo to get some exercise and for me to get to some time indoors while knowing she was in capable hands.
McKenzi was fantastic at taking care of our cat. She not only fed him but spent time petting, brushing, and playing with him. She sent comments and photos everyday. I felt she really cared.

Information McKenzi L. would like to know about your pet
It's important for me to know your dogs temperament with other dogs, cats, men and children, so I know who they are safe to interact with. It's also important to know their temperament on walks so I can be best prepared while walking them.
A typical day
Our house is full of fun activities for your pup to partake in. We have an agility course that can be set up, many different kinds of interactive toys and puzzles, a large yard for playing fetch, and a great neighborhood for walking full of smells for their sniffs! Your pup will have unlimited opportunities to exercise his/her mind, nose, and paws, with constant access to loves of course! And don't worry, I will make sure to send lots of updates along the way!
