Pet care experience
Hi all! My name is Maycie and I am currently a zoology major at Oregon State University. I've had rescue dogs my entire life and currently have a sweet two-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Shih Tzu mix named Frankie, but have cared for dogs of all sizes and ages including a Great Dane and multiple puppies. I’ve also rescued dogs with special needs, so I am familiar with dogs who need a little extra care and attention. I have an energetic seven-year-old cat named Skipper as well, who I rescued as a kitten. I’ve worked in pet retail giving me quite a bit of knowledge on behavior, safety, and nutrition. Along with this, I have consistently pet sat cats and a wide range of dogs since I was around 8 years old including deaf, anxious, and elderly dogs and puppies. I look forward to working with your animals! I’m currently home in Bend and have a lot of free time on my hands to care for your pets. I volunteer at a wildlife hospital on Sundays as well, so I’m filling my time caring for all sorts of animals! When caring for a client’s pet in their own home, I try my best to keep their routine as close to normal as I can. As a strong believer of stability in a pet’s life, I know a big interruption such as a pet sitter can easily cause some anxiety. Keeping to a pet’s normal schedule can ease that anxiety and help the stay go smoother for everyone. Having quite a bit of animal behavior training and knowledge, I understand each pet is very different and I try to find what works for each specific animal and how to best care for them.

Maycie, has been a wonderful friend to my two yellow labs this summer. She showed up like clockwork and faithfully walked them as scheduled. Thank you Maycie- hope to see you next summer.

When caring for a pet in a client’s home, I try to keep their routine as close to normal as I am able to. I find this eases anxiety and makes the separation as easy as it can be.
Information Maycie M. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs, medications, or behavioral differences such as anxiety and aggression towards certain people/animals. I would love to schedule meet-and-greets before anything is permanent to make sure we all feel it’s a good fit!
A typical day
For walks, I specialize in neighborhoods. By being able to get out a survey their extended territory, dogs typically feel more secure and at ease in their own home. On walks, I try to get to know your dog’s personality. Whether it be sniffing or territory marking, ever pup has a special reason they enjoy walks. I play into that reason and make sure the walk is their time. When sitting, I love to play fetch with your pups, practice commands for some mental stimulation, take them to Shevlin Park (one of my favorite walking areas), and, of course, give them a human they can depend on while their people are away.

Dog walking is what I enjoy doing and always find time for it in my schedule. I’m a full time student currently, but have a very flexible schedule.
