I will love your pets like my own!

Pet care experience

I have a real passion for dogs. They bring so much joy and unconditional love into the world that I consider it a privilege to care for them and reciprocate that love. Watching a dog's face light up as we approach the dog park or prepare for a walk is so pure and heartwarming. For the past 5 years, I've enjoyed dog-sitting for several friend's dogs for days and weeks at a time. I always consider these occasions big opportunities and don't take my responsibilities lightly. I will walk the dog several times a day and try to incorporate several trips to various dog parks, dog beaches, or even pet shops (to pick up special treats). Growing up, my parents got me a dog when I was 12 years old and that took my love of dogs to the next level. It taught me responsibility and showed me the importance of dependability. Being away from my dog when I moved away for college was so gut-wrenching. Thankfully, my dog is still alive 16 years later and always greets me happily when I go back to visit. I want to put my love of dogs to use through Rover and bless others by loving their pets well. With busy work schedules and travel plans, I know that some people can't always be there 100% of the time for their dogs. This is where I'd like to come in.

May was amazing!! Not only did she take excellent care of our dog, she also was a perfect house guest and went above and beyond to tidy up before we got home. She’s trustworthy and kind! I highly recommend her!

May was great with my 4 month old puppy. I was super nervous to leave him for the first time but needed to find a sitter last minute and May showed up with less than a day’s notice. My pup was exhausted after spending the day with her which was a huge relief to me. Not to mention she took some very cute pictures of him and kept me posted throughout the day! Would definitely use her again. Thank you May!!

May is the best candidate for this role. She has years and years of experience with dogs of all kinds (big and small). She is very loving, attentive, responsible, and disciplinary. I would 10/10 recommend her to watch or walk your dog.

Information May A. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know the dog's preferences and any special care instructions, such as dietary or medical needs, that I should be attentive to. It would be helpful to also get an understanding of the dog's temperament and usual routine. I think staying on track with the schedule that the dog is accustomed to is beneficial for the dog. I don't have a specific breed preference. I am open to all breeds. But I have boarded a Maltese, Golden Retriever, Boxer, and mini Australian Shepherd before and I grew up with a Shih Tzu. I had an especially strong bond with the mini Aussie and we were best friends for 6 years before he sadly passed away last month from an aggressive form of cancer.

A typical day

I'm excited to visit different dog parks and dog beaches with the dogs I watch. I've always loved going to Coronado Dog Beach with a pup or two and playing fetch on the water's edge. Some of my favorite dog parks include Nate's, Grape Street, Morley Field, and Dusty Rhodes. I also love a nice walk through Balboa Park and the surrounding neighborhoods. Exploring new parts of town is always more fun with a dog. If the dog is healthy and the weather conditions are appropriate, I think hiking a new trail is another good option.
