A rootin' tootin' hoot for your pet
Pet care experience
Hi, I'm Maximilian (he/him/his)! I've worked personally and professionally with animals of all ages and abilities as a dog trainer, kennel attendant, and daycare attendant (in-home and in kennel). I specialize in disabled dogs and aggressive/reactive dogs, though all animals are welcome. Working with animals is so much more than just being an animal lover, it's also understanding animal behavior and psychology. That's what I've dedicated the last 7 years of my life to and I'd love to show you the difference.
Reviews
Has been a great help! Always leaves good notes and even taught my dog some new tricks!
Max is excellent with my cat; she loves him. This was the second time that Max has taken care of my baby, and I definitely recommend him.
excellent and knowledgeable. great with my pet and very professional!!
Maximilian comes through again! I know my cats are in good hands when I'm away thanks to Maximilian's care and communication. He even brought my mail in, rolled the garbage bins to the curb, and offered to make an extra visit just to check on my girls. He goes the extra mile!

Safety, trust & environment
A positive relationship starts at the front door and, given my background as a trainer, I have extensively practiced the best technique for greeting a pet in their own home and helping them safely and happily adjust to my presence BEFORE getting down to business. Given my background in kennel care, I'm well versed in identifying signs of illness, injury, and distress. I'm able to preempt a wide variety of issues due to my experience. Unfortunately, accidents do happen, but you can rest assured that if it comes to it, I'm more than familiar with transporting even the most unwilling pets to veterinary offices.
Information Maximilian S. would like to know about your pet
The number one most important thing I need to know about your pet(s) beforehand is their temperament. I'm always cautious and alert for unexpected behavior, but the more detail you can provide about your pet's behavioral history, the better. Additional information includes where they tend to hang out when you're out and about (if applicable), any disabilities or medical conditions I need to be aware of (even minor ones), and level of training with leash walking. A "negative" answer to any of these is absolutely not a disqualifier. I'm happy to work with pets of all walks of life, accurate information simply allows me to better prepare for your pet as an individual.
A typical day
Mental and physical stimulation is a must. I always stay fully engaged with your pet the entire time I'm with them; the whole point is to give your pet a reprieve from being alone and making sure they're cared for. I do my best to find their favorite games and give them a bit of a mental challenge via training games (like scent work and hide and go seek) if they're up for it. Even after a slow introduction, some animals don't warm up to me and that's okay too! I make sure to talk to them in low gentle tones so that even if they don't want my physical company, they're not completely alone.

Availability
I'm a jack of all trades, master of all of them. The best part: I set all of my own schedules. I've got plenty of hours in the day, seven days per week to be there for you and your pets.
