Pet care experience
I have been an avid dog lover since I was young. My family owned a golden retriever when I was growing up (see photo), and for the past two years, I have been a regular dog sitter for my sister’s puppy bernedoodle Benji (most of the photos on my profile). However, I recently moved to NYC and really miss dog-sitting Benji, so I’m eager to get involved in dog-walking/sitting here. I have a soft spot for big dogs, but love any and all sizes. I am familiar with how to handle puppies & their bursts of excitement, but also have experience with older dogs. I bring a calm presence and lots of patience in interacting with dogs, and I am ready to cater to whatever the dog needs on a walk, drop-in or overnight stay.

Maura has been a dog lover since she was young. She was incredibly caring and loving to her golden retriever growing up. She also has a soft spot for all dogs in her life, big or small, regardless of whether they are family members’ dogs, friends’ dogs, or new dog friends made at the park. It seems that the dogs recognize that as they are excited to be around her and tend to follow her lead and listen to her. She is disciplined in following any instructions that the dog owner provides to her. She is a great dog walker and also dog sitter, and I would trust her with my dog any day.
I am happy to write a testimonial for Maura as a pet lover, especially regarding her love for dogs. She is incredibly responsible, reliable, and kind. I have seen her interact with pugs, labs, goldens, golden-doodles, berna-doodles, as well as shiatzus (and other small mix puppies and dogs). Maura is friendly and sensitive to a dog's needs yet able to control the dogs she has cared for. I would not hesitate to leave my dog in her care (in face I have!). As a pet caregiver, she is reliable and timely, as well as responsible for cleaning up after them. I highly recommend Maura as a dog walker for Rover!
Maura is the best dog walker & sitter we have ever had!! She is so gentle and patient with all dogs, including my large energetic bernedoodle! He can be a handful, and she just shows him love and takes amazing care of him. Maura is a gem, and we were lucky to have her throughout the pandemic! She goes above and beyond just the walks - giving our benji extra snuggles and playing with him - so he wouldn't miss us when we were away. Would 10/10 recommend her, you can trust her to be respectful in your home & take excellent care of your furry loved ones.
Maura is an incredible animal caregiver and lover! Growing up surrounded by her family dog and the many other family friend dogs - she has developed a love for caring for animals! Big (golden retriever), medium (french bulldog) and small (Maltese) - she loves them all! Maura has watched my french bulldogs many times - and when I come to pick them up they are happy, well exercised, and well loved! Maura is the kind of animal caregiver that you would want taking care of your fur babies!

I live in a dog-friendly 4th-floor walk-up apartment in the UES. It is a studio but has a large open space for inside playtime when needed. It is a 10 min walk to Central Park, and <10 min walk to the walkway along the East River (right where the Andrew Haswell Green Dog Park is located). I welcome any crates/bed set-up for overnight boarding, and I am willing to accommodate accordingly based on your dog’s needs!

A typical day
Your dog will get lots of love, attention and snuggles/pets (if they are comfortable with it). I usually find myself sitting on the floor with them -- playing or giving them a good belly rub. Outside the house, I love to go on a good walk. I am walking distance to Central Park and also the East River walkway (where there's a dog park — if that's something your pup is interested in!).

Availability
I work a Mon-Fri job 8am-5pm, with remote work a few days each week. I am most frequently available for walks/drop-ins before and after work hours, with some availability during my work hours. I am also free on weekends for walks, drop-ins and overnight boarding.
