My family has had a dog from the moment I was born, and I've helped my family take care of dogs for 18 years! My family was committed to adopting and rescuing dogs to give them the happiest life they could have, especially for older dogs less likely to be adopted out. My responsibilities were to walk the dog regularly and pick up poop, feed the dog and pay attention to their diet, bathe them as needed, provide medicine as needed (sometimes with complex instructions), and of course, give them lots of cuddles and love! I also loved to bring my dogs to special places like the dog beach, hikes, or the dog park. I also have experience with a variety of dogs. While my family kept golden retrievers, we were part of a foster program through a humane society where we cared for dogs from families that were trying to escape an abusive home. Through this program, I cared for a clumber spaniel, two beagles, and two unspecified mutts. In addition to this, I helped my aunt petsit her dalmatian and my neighbor his rhodesian ridgeback. I don't think I could pick a single dog breed that is my favorite, since I love all the dogs! I recognize that people with older dogs are concerned about how their dog is treated. I love older dogs, and I have zero qualms about dogs with strange medical problems. My family has owned a dog that had a stinky skin condition, but we loved her no less than any other dog! Walking around the city is my favorite pastime, and I often go out in even the most dreadful weather to just enjoy a nice walk. I can walk upwards of 10 miles a day, and I'm an avid biker and hiker, so if your dog is the kind that could use a looooooooong walk, let me know!
