Pet care experience
I grew up with cats, dogs, and more. I mused about becoming a veterinarian as a child. I’ve always seen our pets as family, and I treat animals that way—like I would anyone—with respect and consideration. I’ve felt an innate responsibility to care for my fellow creatures as long as I’ve lived. I’ve had experience housesitting, petsitting, farmsitting, and caring for all sizes of animals. I have experience with rats, mice, ferrets, rabbits, turtles, geckos, snakes, fish, chickens, horses, and more! I’d be happy to help!
Reviews
Matthew did a great job taking care of our older dog for several days. We had to leave town right after she tore her ACL, and he was great about following lots of instructions for her care and giving us frequent updates and pictures!
Matthew is really sweet with my pup, who has definitely bonded with him. We are lucky to have a sitter like him.
Very flexible on dates and amazing with our dogs!
Matthew is absolutely wonderful! He is reliable, arrives on time, and sends a report and pictures from the walk. Highly recommend!

Your family deserves a good person to do the good job they are hired for—and to go above and beyond to ensure both pet(s) and owner(s) feel comfortable and satisfied with the service they hope for! My aim is to provide diligence, comfort, and a friendly demeanor while making sure your animal feels almost as loved as they do when they are by your side. Simply, I’ll make sure your pet receives the walks, food, treats, pets, and talks you might wish for :) And I’m no pet psychic, but I’ll give anything a try! I teach children across BVSD, mentor all ages across Boulder County, and serve several of your neighbors on and off this platform in various other ways. I’ve got loads of experience in patience, care, responsibility, and living on the Front Range! I cannot host dogs in my home, but I perform all other services. Note: A housemate owns a cat which is kept separately.

Information Matthew R. would like to know about your pet
I’d like to know their demeanor, any special requests, medication/walk requirements, and if they’ve ever had a history of violence or not getting along with anyone. Anything that would help me to or prevent me from providing a good service and being a good friend to your pet is good to know. Inform me of all animals you’re aware of that will be free to interact with me at any visit, walk, or housesit. They need to be registered on the platform—even if they are not a cat or dog (you may register other animals as either a cat or dog). If there is anything beyond animal care requested for visits, housesits, etc., please discuss this with me, and I’d be happy to help! The following animals are prohibited from service by Rover’s terms: “…(a) exotic or inherently dangerous pets such as venomous snakes or constrictors, primates, wolves or wolf hybrids, non-domesticated cats, alligators, horses or other livestock; (b) any animal whose ownership or third-party care is prohibited under applicable law; or (c) any animal that has a history of, or which has been trained for, attacks on pets or people.”
A typical day
I operate my own businesses and have two short-hour employments, so I can customize my day according to my clients. I am very able to fit in different needs along almost every week of the year! Services include customized housesits, drop-in visits, and walks! I offer custom feeding, play, cuddles, runs, park visits, hiking, and other location/walk requests to the best of my ability. I can perform multiple housesit needs including gardening, mail retrieval, wild bird-feeding, neighbors/friends/family communication and coordination, etc. I’m an experienced rural/mountain property sitter and animal security guard (will protect chickens from coyotes, dogs from other dogs, etc.) as well! I board up to two cats [from the same household] in my apartment where they tend to roam, sunbathe, nap, lounge, eat, play, hide, and otherwise have an amazing time! They get all the skritches and pets, and they tend to sleep on my bed with me—or on a spare kitty bed I have, various corners, etc.

Availability
I am very flexible! Just ask me about any changes in schedule, and I will do my best to accommodate you! If my schedule shows I’m unavailable, please reach out to see if I can still help. I’m happy to serve your family! I’m available at most hours of the day and will always try to respond promptly—even in an emergency! If your plans or sitter have changed or fallen through and you need a new booking yesterday, I’m your guy!
