Pet care experience
I grew up in a Sheltie and lab dominiated household, but I've been around just about every breed, size, and age throughout my whole life. I have long been the go-to caretaker for family and friends (and friends of friends!) for stays as long as three weeks and involving everything from exercising to bathing to administering medications. I'm well-versed in the slight messiness that comes with pet care, but just as well the rewards that come from a nurtured and happy pet. I have been tested by puppies and senior dogs alike, so I know the kind of patience and sensitivity required for dog care in general. I treat any dog under my watch like my own, because I know all too well just how special pets are to a family.

Matt was such a welcome asset to us when our regular walker went on vacation. He was on time each day, which we truly appreciated. He was also flexible with his time as we juggled our commitments. He kept us up-to-date on changes, fears, as well as things that our puppy enjoyed doing most. Knowing we had a trustworthy and dedicated walker definitely put my mind at ease. Most importantly, our puppy loved him!!!
Matt was great to work with! He came over a few days early to meet Cooper which was very helpful. The walks were great for Cooper and I enjoyed the photos Matt took while taking care of him. I would highly recommend Matt!!!!
Matt has been consistently walking my 90 lb, stubborn dog for a couple of months now, as well as a few overnights. Cooper is in great hands while I'm gone, and my house looks exactly (if not better) than how I left it. I can't recommend him enough!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I am no longer available during the day on weekdays, but can still provide services evenings and weekends. I am also currently without a vehicle on weekdays, so at the moment I am only accepting requests that are within a reasonable walking distance from my home (Belle Haven Road) or easily accessible by the Huntington metro or Alexandria bus routes. I would like to be made aware of any allergies, health issues, and general behavioral quirks to optimize the care. The bulk of my dog-sitting has been for mid-size to larger dogs (i.e. retrievers, shepherds, labradors), but I welcome any breed, size, and shape.
A typical day
I love a good game of fetch as much as kicking around a soccer ball to get the dog engaged and active. I am happy and willing to walk anywhere convenient to the residents and respectful of their preferences for the animal. I have an affinity for nature trails or riverside paths, but I am just as happy to walk throughout the city. I like anything that gets the dog stimulated, active, and social.
