Hello, I am Masina. I am a biology student working to be in the field with animals. Every few months I sit for my aunts two dogs, Lazer and Little Girl, when she goes out of town. They are older dogs, so we don’t get to do a lot of running around but we make it up in cuddles and treats! Every night the three of us will cuddle in bed and during lunch they get their treats. These two dogs have taught me how to administer eye drops and oral medication. They have also taught me how to take care of a dog who is terrified of thunder storms. I keep the dog calm by putting him in his thunder jacket and giving him constant attention, the first night this happened I learned to make him lay down, cuddle and soothe him like a baby. These two are a hoot, but I love being able to watch them. Owners tend to miss their pets because they are family. One of the best ways of ensuring their pet is okay is by sending them pictures and keep the owner updated on how they are doing. If there are any questions or concerns, I respond within 30 minutes’ maximum to ensure security between the owner and I. I have learned that dog owners tend to have a special routine with their pet. I am more than happy to follow that routine and always ask if there is one. When I get to the owners’ house, I will always check to see if there are any special instructions sitting on the counter or pinned to the fridge. Because, some dogs need to take their medication at a certain time, be feed, or groomed. I will follow whatever special instructions are given. For example, when I reach the destination I will great the puppy with lots of love, making sure that a bond is being built between us two. If okay with the owner a treat will be given to the dog. The first thing I will look for are any special instructions that may need to be followed then I will make sure that the dog has water and food, if a feeding is requested. We will then get ready to go on a nice walk, jog or even a run, around the block or to a park if it is nearby, making sure that the dog relieves itself before the walk ends. Once the tasks are complete, I will check the list off one more time ensuring the dog has everything needed, give the dog more love as we say goodbye and hope to see you next time. Time is of the essence, as I am continuing my education, I will keep my calendar up to date to ensure that there are no issues when booking with me.
