Vet student w/ Fear Free training!

Pet care experience

I'm a vet student with extensive experience caring for all pets, be they fluffy, feathered, or scaled! I have no problems with administering medications, working with reactive dogs, or shy cats. During my summers off of schooling, I've worked at a veterinary clinic for 5 years and have been trained in CPR for both dogs and cats. Additionally, I have a personal interest in behavior medicine and find lots of fulfillment in working with anxious or fear aggressive animals!

Maryssa is amazing! She is incredibly kind and patient. Her first walk with my dog, Phoebe, was last minute and not well planned - all on my part. She came in and handled it all with ease! The pictures she took of Phoebe were adorable and she looked so happy ? We both look forward to seeing her again! ?❤️

Maryssa is so very thoughtful and caring of pets' needs. She pays meticulous detail to each pet and will anticipate all care, both physical and emotional. She has the ability to make your pet feel at home...the only person your pet will love more is you!

I would highly recommend Maryssa as a pet sitter and as a dog walker. She is comfortable with a variety of animals at different ages and has watched dogs, cats, as well as rats for me. She was great at giving oral medications in pill and liquid form and was very attentive to my pets' various needs. I was nervous to leave my animals with someone else at first because they can be a little shy around strangers, but she kept me updated throughout the day with pictures and videos to put me at ease. She followed the daily pet routines I sent her perfectly, and was quick to let me know if she noticed any changes in the behavior or eating habits of my pets.

Maryssa is a reliable and energetic friend who's helped pet and plantsit for me in the past. She is very knowledgable about animal behavior and I learn a lot of things from her, particularly fear-free handling! Her punctuality and enthusiasm for animals make her a great candidate for Rover :)

Safety, trust & environment

Safety is my #1 concern! If I ever feel that your pet is in an unsafe situation, I will immediately try to remove them from that environment. My own home has a fenced-off backyard and plenty of room to run around. I have 2 cats and a dog, so unfortunately if your dog is not cat-friendly, my home would not be a good fit for an overnight stay!

Information Maryssa C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs or sensitivities! It's much easier for me to work with your dog if I'm familiar with all of their quirks beforehand. Any dietary sensitivities, allergies, behavioral quirks, or anything similar would be great to know!

A typical day

When I walk dogs, I like to make sure there is a good balance of actual walking and explorative sniffing! With how hot it can get here in the summer, I also try to be especially cognizant of the pavement temperature and provide lots of water before and after the walk.

I'm currently working part-time at the UCD Veterinary Teaching Hospital, so I have lots of time to spend with your critters this summer! My schedule is pretty variable throughout the week, and I'll have somewhat random openings through weekdays.
