Nature enthusiast and zoophilist

Pet care experience

Great day to all! I am an energetic, health conscious, environmentally friendly, sustainably oriented, compassionate and caring individual. I enjoy spending time outdoors exploring nature and working in the garden. I'm married to my high school sweetheart and we love spending time in nature as we enjoy adventures around the PNW. We have one cat, Nibbler who's a 10 year old, long haired black and white tabby and two rescue dogs, Ginger a blind and diabetic 12 year old Dachshund, and Scrappy a 13 year old Chihuahua; they spend their time lounging around together on the couch in a nice, sunny spot. I have also cared and watched over my mom's growing pack of rescue dogs whenever I make it to her house in Portland. I have been described as a compassionate and caring person who has an instant repor with all animals. I believe animals can truly sense a person's intentions and are excellent judges in character. I look forward to meeting your furry family member, as I truly believe our pets are family members, I will extend the same care to your companions as I do mine!

The word that best describes Mary’s service is, OUTSTANDING. Mary was astute about my dogs needs and provided lots of key communication during Goku’s stay via videos/text messaging. Felt reassured that my dog was in good hands despite being 100’s of miles away. I would highly recommend Mary. She is a great communicator and her positive attitude shows kindly thru her presence. My dog, Goku enjoyed his time!

Mary was super flexible and worked around our travel schedules to Hood River. Super attentive to our boys and provided us regular updates! Will definitely book again when we are back in town!

We highly recommend Mary for pet care. She was able to accommodate us with a last minute reservation. She took care of Millie like one of her own. We received lots of photos and it was obvious Millie felt very comfortable with her and her pets. Mary is the sweetest most kind person... we will definitely book again.

Mary is in one word - Awesome! She was able to take in our black lab, Scio on a short notice and with a vague timetable as to when stay would be over. She is so accommodating and easy to work with. Scio was well taken care of and there are as many updates as you want. During this stay, Scio developed a health issue (not due to anything Mary did) Normally my style would be to wait a day or so to see if things clear up on it's own. Mary clearly saw the seriousness of the issue and pushed to have us get the dog into vet. It was a good thing she did. Dog needed emergency surgery same day to survive. I am grateful to Mary for her attention to my dog. Highly recommend.

If your pet stays at my home, they will be taken care of as if they were my own. I would go out of my way to make your pet feel comfortable, by removing my pets from the common areas, and letting your pet be the owner of the house while they are here. I follow up with time stamped pictures and constant communication, no bother at all, because its exactly they way I would want to have my pets looked after as well. We will set clear expectations and I will make sure to meet those requirements as well as have clear and open communication throughout your pet's stay with me.

Information Mary W. would like to know about your pet

I love all animals, all shapes and sizes! Medical history or allergies should be shared, as well as any food requirements or restrictions. Any negative tendencies I should know about would be appreciated so I can plan ahead/around them. If your puppy is not potty trained, providing puppy pads/supplies is appreciated. I am happy to accommodate, we can talk about it and plan ahead with extra supplies. In the past I have resupplied visiting pets by going to store to get extra special food, or even a new harness, no problem! Thank you for your help in making your fur baby's time away from you more smooth and easy!

A typical day

I am so privileged to live in the gorgeous Columbia Gorge, I have access to so many great nature hikes within 10 minutes from my house. I also live in a house on a large property, so plenty of running space, but to be safe I always use a harness and bring treats on my walks. I'm an active person who can take several walks a day, enjoy long or short hikes and can be flexible according to your dogs abilities. Pets can enjoy time on the couch and lounge around the house, I am comfortable administering medication as my own dog takes insulin twice a day. I am happy to work with pets of all ages because I have the patience and space to look after your loved pet.
