70 minute Dog Hiking Adventures!
Pet care experience
Hi there! In today's busy world, it can be difficult to find time to provide your dog with the mental and physical stimulation that he or she needs to be healthy and happy. Well-exercised dogs tend to have fewer behavioral problems and are generally better companions. Through providing hiking adventures for your dog, it is my hope that I can be part of a balanced approach to your pup's well-being. Due to the wide variety of sights and smells, hikes are more mentally enriching for a dog than a walk through the neighborhood over familiar terrain. Dogs also benefit from the social interaction of being in a group of 2-4 other dogs during the hike. Dogs need to be able to keep up during a rapid-paced hike, and should have decent leash manners (i.e., no heavy pullers, leash-aggressive, or extremely rambunctious dogs). I am happy to use client-provided devices such as harnesses, haltis, and prong collars, as long as your dog has already been familiarized with the device. I am happy to provide regular 30-minute walks and check-ins for dogs who do not thrive in a group setting, as well as for dogs in general. 70-minute hikes are $23 each, and pickup/dropoff is included. In case of rain, we usually go "hiking" through Home Depot, which provides excellent opportunities for dogs to sniff interesting smells and meet people. About me: I am a reliable, compassionate, lifelong dog lover. When I was growing up, my family rescued dogs and placed them in good homes. I know the basics of dog training, and I am responsible, calm, and observant. My standard poodle Winston is a registered therapy dog, and my cattle dog/lab mix, Wyatt, loves going for long hikes with his canine friends. Winston and Wyatt are like children to me. Should you choose to entrust me with your pup's care, I will do my best to care for him/her as if he/she were one of my own. To ensure a mutual good fit, I require meet-and-greets before all new bookings. Because we hike in wooded areas, I require that all dogs in my care be on flea, tick, and heartworm preventative. Clients must be able to provide veterinary paperwork proving that a dog is up to date on all vaccinations (rabies, DHPP, and bordetella). Dogs must also be completely free of intestinal parasites and infectious diseases, and should also wear identification on their collars. Thank you :)
