We make your dog part of the family

Pet care experience

As a homemaker, I have a flexible schedule and time to take special care of your dog. We like walks around the neighborhood, trips to the beach and play time in our fenced in back yard. I was a dog foster for the Pierce County Humane Society for 11 years and have been a dog owner for the last 33 years. I'm happy to care for geriatric or special need dogs. I've had one of those sweethearts and know how worrisome it can be to leave them behind. I have a Masters in Education and was a 4th grade teacher before having four children of my own. Our family is a dog family. We love our animals, our fosters, our friend's dogs, and do everything we can to make them happy. At our house, your treasured pup will be treated like one of the family. I host a limited number of dogs at one time so we can care for, and enjoy, them just like we would our own pets.

Mary takes such good care of our WestieBoy- and her pup is a great playmate. We feel totally comfortable with Mary and her attention to our funloving pup! So thankful we found her.

Felt super comfortable with Mary from the second I met her. She was super responsive, thorough, and I felt my kitties were really cared for in the short time she was here. Definitely book with her!

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced yard for your dog to play. We also like walks around the neighborhood. If you have a puppy who uses a crate, or is blocked off in a room, we can try to mimic what you do at home. I like to be informed of any allergies or tendencies. For example a grass allergy may mean getting wiped down after being outside. A chicken allergy means no treats with chicken. A tendency to run or try to escape is good to know. We like to be on high alert and extra diligent and aware of doors opening. I will send lots of pictures with updates during the visit. Every family member here is an animal lover. Your pup will get well socialized with cats, teenage kids, a foster bunny, and lots of attention. I screen other dogs very carefully and only accept very friendly and gentle dogs.

A typical day

Our favorite play spots are our fenced in back yard, the Brown's Point lighthouse park and the elementary or middle school fields. We also love to hike through Dash Point. On shorter trips, a nice stroll around the neighborhood gets us some fresh air and new smells. Sometimes, we just play fetch in the back yard, or hang out on a pretty day.

I'm home most of the day, except when I leave to walk a dog in the area. Even then, my husband is usually home. During lacrosse season (spring) I may have to leave around 5:00 for a game. My husband is home with me and is usually here when I leave to to do a dog walk, which is about once a day, 3 times a week. I usually try to keep our canine visitors to a very low number so they get the love and attention they would in a family setting rather than a typical doggy daycare. We find this is very enjoyable and low stress for all parties!
