I have been around dogs since I was four years old and two years ago I rescued a husky mix who is now approximately four years old. While in middle school, high school, and college I pet sat for many of my parents’ friends. These opportunities included both dogs and cats of various ages and sizes as well as rescues that were particularly shy or scared of people. Some of my duties during these positions included walking dogs, feeding dogs and cats, maintaining water availability, playing with dogs and cats, cleaning litter boxes, administering necessary medicines, and just spending some calm time petting dogs and cats. Other pet experiences I have had include assisting my mom when taking her dog, a certified therapy dog, to meet dementia patients and kids in the juvenile system. I have also volunteered for the American Red Cross in their shelters that work with animal shelters during potentially life threatening weather. I am a professional theatrical sound designer and engineer and as a result many of my work hours are spent in dark theaters later in the evening. When I am home I therefore enjoy spending time outside with my dog and I would love to give other dogs the opportunity to be outside during the day as well.
