I've shared my home and heart with dogs throughout my adult life, sometimes only one dog, but often times three of my own and a foster here and there. With each year or decade, I become more involved. I've worked with rescue groups, providing in-home love and medical care while they were recovering from a myriad of ailments, some physical and some just emotional. Abandoned dogs do not have a "level playing field," as the expression goes. I have three Golden Retrievers, some call foster fails, this because the fostering turned forever home with me. I've been a full-time devoted, professional dog-walker for seven years. My sense of responsibility for each dog, as well as the owners, is ever-present when I'm on the job. I firmly believe that attention to the not-so-obvious is one of my strong suits. I've noticed a less than happy look in a dog's eyes, contacted the owners to just give them a heads-up, and as it would often turn out, yes, they had the beginnings of a medical issue that could be treated sooner and with better results than if it had been overlooked. A high-energy dog can get a bad rap, sometimes prompting some frustration from an owner. In almost every case, it's an easy fix. Just imagine the calm, happy, and relaxed dog that will be waiting for you simply because he/she had adequate exercise and one-on-one interaction with a good walking companion while you were at work or unavailable during the day. So every age and size, puppy to seniors, I'm tuned in and in step with each furry client.
