Drama-free. Relaxed. Let's play!

Pet care experience

***I must meet the dog-guest prior to agreeing to any booking for first timers. Due to the ability to confirm reservations at the earliest opportunity for all clients and set my personal schedule, I require the Meet & Greet to take place within 72 hours of the reservation request. For requests for multiple days with a new client, a 1 night trial may be requested to make certain that we are a fit. In preparation for any guest's stay I thoroughly clean the floors for possible stray items and cleaning again takes place upon departure. Please provide me with at least 3 days notice for the first intended stay. (Meet & Greet asap and reservation). * Repeat customers, please try to provide at least a 24 hour notice, although I will accommodate in less time, If I am able. I decided to offer my services to dogs that would otherwise not be able to handle either any type of group or kennel setting. As a prior pet guardian I know that my sensitive dog was unhappy in a group setting. After being away for three days, I picked him up to go home and he was limp like a noodle. I don't think he was able to obtain good rest the entire time I was gone. I offer my home and refuge to one sole fur-guest at a time. I've been around and cared for animals my entire life. I understand the importance of companionship, play, exercise and routine. I lost my 15.5 year old jack-mix (kidney disease) in 2018 and am mindful of what it takes to live in harmony with an energetic, intelligent and sometimes very willful fur baby. I enjoy a calm and relaxed home and would love to assist you in the care of your kids when you are unavailable. I will treat them as if they were my own. While I didn't select a late afternoon option, I am available for late afternoon check-ins for cats (other pets) and dogs. All dog walks will take place in daylight throughout the year. Pricing for multiple pets at one outside location is a variable where I am able to provide a discount. I am willing to board 2 animals from the same household. Please ask and we can discuss. Let me know how I can be of service to you and your family and we'll work on creating a mutually beneficial long-term 'care' relationship that serves your needs. Please note: 1. I do not board cats at my home. They neither travel well or adapt to new environments readily. (Special circumstances for young kittens with carriers may be accommodated). 2. I do not accept dogs that require pee pads or wear diapers, etc. 3. I do not accept unaltered or unlicensed dogs. I do not provide overnight boarding for cats, but instead offer drop-in services at your home. ***** 1. Overnight stays are 24 hours or less. 2. I guarantee 4 outings per day, which includes a 30 minute minimum walk in either the morning or the late afternoon /evening. 4. Additional services / costs available at additional fee (examples: around the clock care (separation anxiety), additional walks / outings, trips to store for food, medicine, supplies, destruction) 5. Medications are administered at no fee. Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, with booster. ****Given the tremendous rise in fireworks throughout the year I need to warn you that it may become too noisy for many dogs at my home. I am close to the hills which only makes the sound louder and the noise travel. If your dog is not affected by loud noises or is medicated, please let me know. I understand how frightened they may become and would not want that type of upset for the pet guest in a new and strange environment. Thank you for your understanding. I work part-time from my home. I am generally fully available after 2:00PM, although times and days sometimes vary. I generally do not leave a pet alone at all while in my home, if it isn't just to empty the garbage, pick up mail or do laundry. All dogs wear a harness and are leashed prior to leaving the home. Dogs also use a seatbelt while riding in the back seat when being transported for outings.

Information Mary P. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences, but would like to limit the weight of a guest to 20 lbs. or under. 1. What is their favorite type of play or toy? 2. Excessive barking, chewing , aggression or separation anxiety? 3. House trained? 4. On medication or allergies? (Please bring medication in Rx bottle if boarding) 5. Under care for flea control (mandatory)? 6. Has current city dog license and wears tags (prefer dogs to be chipped)? 7. Crate trained 8. Rides well and enjoys the car? (If not, it is not an issue, there are many streets to be explored locally). I do provide a halter and seatbelt. (Dogs always sit in the back seat with the window cracked for all of the good sniffs on the journey).

A typical day

I love to take dogs on great adventures, but any heavy exertion is done at the coolest part of the day. We take walks at Lake Chabot Regional, San Leandro Marina, Lake Merritt and Alameda's shoreline. Have them bring their favorite toy and we'll play. (No public water drinking due to possibility of contamination. I carry a foldable water cup, bottled water and am aware of the availability of water at various locations).
