Experienced pet owner!

Pet care experience

Hello Rover! I am a lover of all animals to the point that I graduated college with animal behavior as part of my major. My ultimate goal is to do animal-assisted therapy for those suffering from various mental health struggles because I know how beneficial animals can be to human health and happiness. I’ve had pets almost my entire life, ranging from rabbits and guinea pigs, to dogs, to farm animals like horses, donkeys, and goats! In addition, my job for 3 years in college was to train monkeys, so I’ve got a pretty broad portfolio in terms of animal experience and training! I have a 7 month old mutt puppy named Odin, who is about 45 lbs right now and an absolute love. He gets extensive training (weekly classes since he was 12 weeks old and daily 45 minute sessions with me), and is both dog and people friendly - a real sweetheart. My goal is to make him a certified therapy dog when he’s old enough, but for now obviously he’s still a puppy and a bit rambunctious, so for daycare purposes I would need to take only dogs who would be ok with that. Young puppies are a plus for this! I would also be happy to incorporate your dog during my training sessions with Odin and work on any behaviors he/she is currently learning! I know how important your pets are to you, and I’ll treat them like my own when they’re with me!

Mary Kate would make an excellent pet sitter for Rover clients! Mary Kate has an incredible amount of experience caring for animals: she has grown up caring for pets of her own (including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, horses and goats!), she used to volunteer in our college's monkey laboratory, and most recently she has adopted and cared for a puppy of her own, Odin. Mary Kate's kind heart and caring spirit make her an excellent person to entrust your pets with. If I had a dog of my own, she would be the first person I'd call to be my petsitter!

I’ve known Mary Kate since she was a child, and she has been caring for animals for as long as I can remember…from fish to guinea pigs, hamsters, bunnies, rescued dogs, horses, a donkey, and goats, to working with animals in college, where she learned animal behavioral training. Animals have always been her passion, and she continues to learn training techniques and, most of all, she loves to give all animals tons of playtime and affection. As a person, Mary Kate is sweet, friendly, funny, and above all, reliable. You will never have to worry about your beloved pets while they are under her care – there is no one I trust more to care for my own pets!
