My family has taken in many shelter dogs over the years, all different sizes, breeds, personalities, and people-food preferences. I adopted my very own pup when I was thirteen, a sweet Labrador/German Shepherd mix, and I named him Oliver. Little did I know how close we would become over those crucial high school years and how difficult it would be to part ways when I left for college. Being separated from your pet for long periods of time can be difficult, but as long as you know they are in good company, your mind can be at ease.
