Availability
My schedule is almost completely free except for an occasional appointment here or there which I usually know well in advance. I’m available for drop ins and overnight stays as well. The only other commitment I have is I usually photograph the dogs at a local shelter once a week to help them get adopted.

Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot care for pets in my home as my senior dog is recovering from cancer and he has become a little bit grumpy with dogs that he does not know. I have no problem caring for your pet in your own home, which I believe is actually often the best scenario as it seems to make things less stressful overall for your pets while you’re away from them. I can follow whatever routine your pet is used to and whatever instructions you leave.
Information Mary K. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know ahead of time if your pets have any medical issues. Also, please let me know if they have any favorite toys. It’s also important to know whether they are protective of any of their toys or food or treats. Lastly, please be sure and tell me if your dog is a Houdini and likes to try to escape when the front door is open or through a backyard gate or over a fence.
A typical day
I love to interact with dogs both inside and out. I have lots of dogs that love to chase bubbles or play ball. I can even take your dog swimming if you have a pool and they are an experienced swimmer. Inside can play with their inside toys or we can just sit around and snuggle and cuddle. With my cat friends we can spend inside time playing fun with their little cat toys.

Pet care experience
I am a nurturer by nature and am a Registered Nurse. In the later part of my career I worked in labor and delivery and took care of mothers and newborns, and I have to say when I got the chance to help deliver a litter of puppies, it was just as exciting! So since I no longer work in the nursing field, and I don’t have my patients to spend my time caring for, I’ve now decided that since I love animals so much it’s time to spend all my extra time spoiling them, caring for them, and just loving on them. As a child, I grew up always having a dog and a cat in the house and then when I left the nest, my husband and I started out with one dog and we eventually ended up with three. Still I find there’s plenty of space in my heart to get to know even more. Our oldest golden retriever boy takes seizures, so I am comfortable taking care of dogs that do have a history of seizures. I am also comfortable giving medications. I will always make it a point to send photos to mom and dad so you can see how your fur babies are doing. This way when you’re away from your fur baby you’ll still feel comfortable. Just one thing I wanted to mention. I enjoy taking dogs for walks however I am not able to walk a large strong dog that pulls. I have no problem pet sitting a large dog if they have a fenced in yard and I would not have to walk them. However, I just would not feel safe walking them as I would feel that there could possibly be a chance that they would pull too hard and possibly either knock me down or get loose. However, like I said, I do love my big dogs. I just feel for safety sake. I wanted to put out that information.

Reviews

Mary was the Best! The time and care spent w/ my boys was invaluable. Great warm, loving, pleasant energy, made the experience effortless for me. Communication was consistent and detailed; was nice to have a mature & reliable caretaker. We found a great fit with Mary & we hope she’ll spend time with us again! Grateful for the connection we made w/ Mary and for the excellent care she took of my bull babies ☺️
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Mary as a dog sitter! From the moment we met her, it was clear she has a true gift with animals. With three dogs of her own, she’s not only experienced—she’s deeply in tune with what dogs need to feel happy, safe, and loved. Mary is incredibly caring and attentive. She took the time to learn my pup’s personality, routines, and quirks, and made sure every little detail was just right—from feeding schedules to playtime. I got regular updates, photos, and could tell my dog was not just being looked after, but genuinely loved. She treats every dog as if they were her own. Mary’s calm energy and thoughtful approach made a world of difference for my anxious dog. If you're looking for someone who will go above and beyond for your pup, Mary is the one. She’s everything you could want in a sitter—responsible, detail-oriented, kind, and absolutely devoted to dogs.
