Stay-At-Home Dog Lover!
Pet care experience
I have owned and provided care for dogs (from puppies to seniors) for more than 20 years! I have experience housetraining puppies, administering medication, following restricted diets, grooming, and just generally loving on dogs of all breeds and ages. Our senior rescue dog passed away in early 2022 and while we're not ready to have a new dog join our family, we absolutely love having visitors with wet noses, furry bellies, and doggy smiles! The money we make on Rover goes into a travel fund for our vacations and having dogs stay with us provides that "dog energy" we crave. I will care for your dog as if it's my own (and of course according to your instructions) and will send you lots of pictures of our adventures together.
Reviews
Mary is the best. We could not feel more comfortable whenever we leave our pup. He gets more exercise than we’re able to afford him!
We love when Mary takes care of our dogs. She is so attentive to their needs and takes great care and thought in reviewing and understanding their routines and preferences. Mary’s communication and photo sharing is perfect and always leaves us totally at ease.
Mary is amazing!!! She takes such great care of our dogs and we love how often she checks in and sends photos! We always know they are in good hands when they stay with her.
Nellie had the best time spending the day with Mary. We felt so comfortable that Nellie was being cared for while we were out of town and able to thoroughly enjoy our holiday time with family. Mary sent pictures and updates throughout the day and we brought home a tired and happy pup. Hope to be able to get Mary every time we need someone to care for our dog as if they were caring for their own!

My house is located in a safe, friendly neighborhood on Sluice Pond in Lynn, walking distance to Lynn Woods Reservation and a short drive from the beach (dogs allowed October - March). In summer and fall, dogs that enjoy water can swim in the spring-fed pond directly from our back yard! The yard is unfenced so I use long extendable leashes and close supervision when dogs are outside. For your dog's safety I don't allow unleashed time outdoors at our house. Inside, house trained, non-destructive dogs have free run of the house - they are allowed onto all furniture, including beds, unless you prefer otherwise. We have no other pets and I only take dogs from one family at a time, so rest assured that your dog's care and comfort will be my top priority. In terms of exercise, I will follow your preferences and take cues from your dog. A walk around the pond by my house is about 2 miles and one of my favorite hikes in Lynn Woods is about 5 miles total. For senior dogs or dogs with restricted mobility or low energy, short walks around the neighborhood or leashed time to explore the large yard are great options. Your dog's health and safety come first when they stay with me. I’m very careful about exercising dogs in the summer and I’m familiar with caring for breeds that are particularly susceptible to heat. If any situation should arise where your dog needs veterinary care, I will alert you and act immediately.

Information Mary G. would like to know about your pet
Please ask yourself the following questions to help determine if I’m a good match for your dog: * Is your dog aggressive toward people? For the safety of my family, I cannot accept dogs that are aggressive toward humans. * Can your dog safely be left alone for up to two hours? Although I am home for most of the day, if your dog is destructive it must be crate trained (you provide the crate) so I can safely run errands. If your dog needs "constant care" (a person in the house at all times) please let me know and we can discuss my availability and rates, which are higher for this type of care. * Is your dog up-to-date on its rabies vaccination? Dogs staying with us must be current on their rabies shot. * Is your dog on preventative treatment for fleas/ticks? Dogs staying with us must use a preventative flea/tick treatment (e.g., Seresto, NexGuard, Frontline, etc.) * Is your dog reactive to other animals? Not a problem! Just let me know and I'll adapt our activities to account for that. (We never visit dog parks, even with dog-friendly pups.) * Does your dog have other special needs (separation anxiety, medication, etc.)? Please let me know prior to booking. * Is your dog a puppy that is still housetraining? While I am happy to host young puppies that are not yet house trained, my per-night fee for them is $125; I can not accommodate dogs that use pee pads. Please note that our neighborhood has fireworks displays around the 4th of July and New Year's Eve. I would recommend a different sitter around those holidays if your dog is sensitive to fireworks noise. Otherwise our neighborhood is very quiet.
A typical day
I'm home full time and am ready to match your dog's energy level! Our family loves going for walks around our neighborhood! We live within walking distance of Lynn Woods and we have so much fun exploring the trails there. There are walks for all abilities! We live in a very walkable neighborhood and enjoy exploring on foot. We also live near the ocean and if you are comfortable with your dog traveling in our car for 10-15 minutes I love doing beach walks! The ocean beaches near us are dog-friendly from October through March and have paved paths that are dog-friendly year-round. For dogs that prefer to stay close to home, there's still plenty of excitement. We have a large yard and live next to a pond, so we regularly get ducks, geese, and squirrels visiting and catching dogs' attention.

I'm a stay-at-home parent to an older teen, so I have lots of time for your dog! I volunteer regularly in our community but am rarely away from our house for more than a couple hours at a time. Your dog will get lots of undivided attention, walks and potty breaks as needed, and plenty of snuggle time.
