I love all animals.

Pet care experience

I have been taken care of a lot of animals for about 17 years. I have owned 15 dogs. I love all dogs of all kinds. No matter how big or small.

This was my first time using Rover and I was skeptical. I didn’t know what to expect or look for. I’ll start with the positives. My dog came back looking fine and healthy. The sitter has a no cage policy which I thought was great. The sitter has also owned many other large dogs themselves so that made me feel comfortable. When there were potential issues with him like the fact that he was not eating or using the bathroom, I was alerted by the sitter which I also really appreciated. When I picked him up, the sitter even got him a new toy. such a nice touch. Unfortunately, this experience wasn’t all positive. I dropped him off and was not invited in to see the place that my dog would be spending the next few days. Maybe I’m just new to this and that isn’t customary with Rover sitters but it was odd to me. Because he’s potty shy, I recommended the sitter let him stay outside in the yard for an hour to help him feel comfortable. I was told that that would not be possible because there were unfriendly dogs outside in the yard. However, the sitters profile said that there were no other dogs. Communication with the sitter was not what I expected. I would ask questions or make statements but they would go unaddressed. I felt like something was being hidden from me. The second day of his stay, I was told that I would be picking him up from a new location. When I asked for the address, the sitter gave me the address to an Arcos gas station…. That was a bit off to me on top of the fact that I never got to see where he was when i dropped him off. When I got him back, everything was fine but this experience made me a little scared for my dogs safety while he was under the sitters care. Overall, everything turned out fine. He’s acting a little more timid and quiet than usual but that might just be because he needs to adjust again. Wish the sitter was a little more transparent and communicative about things.
